AirBuccaneers HD

Written by Stallion on . Posted in Pirate Games

Think Pirates of the Caribbean...with airships! AirBuccaneers HD started life way back as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2003, and the creators have now decided to go it alone and make a full game out of it.

Expect all manner of aerial mayhem, with traditional broadsides provided by trusty cannons, all the way to midair boarding attempts! "Sinking" an enemy airship means literally blowing it out of the sky, and being able to watch it plummet back to earth. You can battle in first or third-person mode, much the same as Pirates of the Caribbean. Different, however, is the fact you must find your nemesis first - he may be hiding in the clouds, or lurking in a deep alpine valley, watching your movements in secrecy.

AirBuccaneers HD is being developed by LudoCraft. Release date is not yet set, but a pre-alpha version of the game is available for free download by the public. That download, and further info on the game, can be found here: http://www.ludocraft.com/games/airbuccaneers/

Age of Booty comming to iOS and Android

Written by Thagarr on . Posted in Pirate Games

Joystiq is reporting that Age of Booty, originally released for XboxLive and PC, will be released soon for iOS and Android devices. This game was a bit of a disappointment a couple of years ago, but it did have some serious potential. It was actually quite fun to play, but it started to get repetitive after you had played it for a while, there was simply not enough variety of things to do and the maps were very repetitive as well. This reincarnation is supposed to feature some improvements over the original game. The new version will include a single-player campaign and real-time multiplayer and cross-platform support. The developer, Certain Affinity, have partnered with Chaotic Moon and have listened to the criticisms of the game by players over the past couple of years and is trying to incorporate those changes into this new version. Hopefully they will get it right this time! No release date has been set yet. You can read the full article over at Joystiq, and you can find out more over at the developers web page HERE!

Pirates: Tides of Fortune!

Personally, I am not much for social networks, but I know some of you out there are so I thought I would mention this. Google+ has launched a new social game called Pirates: Tides of Fortune! I don't know a whole lot about it, but is apparently a type city building game that lets you build your own pirate empire! That sounds promising at least! The game was developed by Plarium, a social game development company that debuted in 2009.

Set sail for riches and plunder as you battle your way from half-drowned prisoner to legendary scourge of the Seven Seas! Form your crew from the most ruthless buccaneers to stumble the streets of Tortuga, then build a pirate fleet to bring whole colonies to kneel beneath your flag!

You’ll master game-changing Discoveries, Trade, and Diplomacy as you raise your Pirate Haven from a nameless desert island to the bustling hub of your seaborne Empire. Invite your shipmates along for a full share of the spoils as you sail the uncharted reaches of the Caribbean - use cunning, deceit, and the cutlass to make it all yours!

Gamestar.de has a new video preview of Port Royal 3! This time, we get to see some actual in game footage, and from what they show us in the video I am very impressed! The audio is in German, but who cares, the game looks fantastic and the 3D battles are a lot more detailed! Looks are nice of course, but the gameplay is what I am interested in, and this video does show a good bit of it. Enough of my yammering already, watch the video!!
