[REL] Companion Boarding Screen

Written by buho on . Posted in Age of Pirates Mods

age-of-piratesHaving your companions drowning the ships while boarding is not the best approach. CBS launchs the boarding screen used in the main char abordages every time one of your companions boards a ship.

=============================
TWEAK Vers. 01.000.001
=============================

Your companions can seize and loot boarded ships like in the main char boardings

Prize officers are selected from the main char officers list.

CBS includes "Victuals for Both Ships" tweak.

This tweak replaces the files:

Program\INTERFACE\transfer_main.c
Program\scripts\companions.c
RESOURCE\INI\interfaces\transfer_main.ini

Search "BUHO" to locate the changes.

All the original files included in the packet, renamed as originalname____original.ext.

Installation: drop the "Program" and "RESOURCES" folder in your current COAS root folder.

[REL] Balls (cannonballs) invisible

Written by Joe Dagger on . Posted in Age of Pirates Mods

Ahoy!

Right a straight forward invisible version of the "balls" file, so now you don't see them fly at silly angels at you. The only thing that is still visible in this version is the Exploding ammo has some sort of trail... much smaller effects and less annoying than the balls.

I wasn't able to locate the correct file yet (to remove the trail from the exploding ammo) so for now it stays that way. If you like the idea to not see the balls fly around then give it a try.

[REL] Modern Knight's Turbulent Times Music Mod!

Written by Thagarr on . Posted in Age of Pirates Mods

After may log moths of work moderkight1 has finally finished ad released his Turbulent Times Music Mod for CoAS! I have followed this one closely because i have always felt that music in a game can be just as important as a good story line and good gameplay. Music ca really set the atmosphere of a game more than almost any other element, ad if it is done wrong can kill a game quickly. I think Seaward and Akella did a fine with the music for the game, there were some aspects that needed a bit more variety. As with everything MK does, this mod is historically accurate, and consists of music primarily from the 17th/18th centuries. But my words could hardly do it justice, and I think MK describes it perfectly himself :

I attempted to find music that captured the dissonant spirit of the times and situations. With the exception of a couple of tracks, this music is not what you would find in a typical Hollywood Pirate movie. It's the type of music you would find in a well done historically accurate Age of Sail/Piracy movie or documentary. That doesn't mean it lacks the glitzey, action flash and flair of a blockbuster's music. I tried to pick out music that exudes action and movement where the situations warrant, and dissonance, friction, and mystery in other places. I think this mod will be more popular with the more mature player or someone looking for the educational immersive simulations experience rather than the temporary fix - kiddie pirate movie game diversion. The serious player and historian will very much enjoy this mod. Be warned that the music is somewhat dark much of the time but very inspirational and educational. For kids that want to impress their parents, this mod is also a must. They may even let you play longer believing that you've finally found some sort of sophistication.

You can download MK's Music Mod HERE! Here are a couple of MK's Youtue videos featuring some of his work on his music mod, and you can find the rest of his videos in THIS thread on the forum!

Gentlemen Of Fortune 1.1.1

Written by Thagarr on . Posted in Age of Pirates Mods

The Gentlemen of Fortune Mod team is hard at work on G.O.F! 1.2, but there seems to have been a few tricky issues which need to be ironed out before a full release. In the mean time, a member of our modding team buho has released an interim patch G.O.F! 1.1.1 that has some other bug fixes and tweaks that he has worked on. This mod includes everything that was incorporated into 1.1, except Joe Daggers graphics mods. Buho has set up a couple of support threads on the forums, and you can head on over HERE for the full change log and download links. There is also a thread for reporting bugs and issues which you can find it HERE! Please be sure and read the threads carefully before installing or posting anything. Buho plans on keeping G.O.F! 1.1.x updated with hotfixes as necessary.
