New Port Royale 3 Preview!

Written by Thagarr on . Posted in Port Royale 3

Gamestar.de has a new video preview of Port Royal 3! This time, we get to see some actual in game footage, and from what they show us in the video I am very impressed! The audio is in German, but who cares, the game looks fantastic and the 3D battles are a lot more detailed! Looks are nice of course, but the gameplay is what I am interested in, and this video does show a good bit of it. Enough of my yammering already, watch the video!!

Port Royale 3 Fan Mission Contest!

Written by Thagarr on . Posted in Port Royale 3

I missed this a couple of days ago when it was posted over on the Kalypso forums. The post by Daan Hugo, in German, says that thanks to the success of an earlier forum thread requesting user input on the game that Keith posted about HERE, they have decide to hold an official "Port Royale mission Fan Contest!" So once again, if you have any ideas as to what would make this game better, head on over to their forums and get all the details on this unique contest! Here is a bit of an excerpt from the original post, taken from a Google Translate version :

I'm a bit slow on this one mates, but Kalypso Media has released the first cinematic trailer for Port Royale 3! There is not a whole lot to this one, but it does look decent, I am really looking forward to some gameplay footage though!

Port Royale 3 Preview

port-royale-3For the unwashed, Port Royale, first released back in 2002 is a mix between Pirates! for Windows and Patrician.  A surprising but satisfying combination that gives you the option of empire building and/or action.  The Gameplay is for the player to either build a trading empire with the purchase and sale of goods from any of the Caribbean's towns or alternatively you can manufacture your own items which will reduce the cost per part and give you an advantage when trying to sell your goods.

You can also become a pirate capturing ships at will and then selling them at friendly ports or a privateer that works for a certain country capturing pirates and fighting of your chosen masters enemies.

Help Shape Port Royale 3

I'm not sure how much weight I put into this forum post by Daan Hugo who works for Gaming Minds.  Daan has made a post asking everyone to give their input so as to help make Port Royale a better game.  Apparently the game is in Alpha at the moment so I'm not sure how much more they will be adding but any opportunity to get a better game should be followed up.  So if you have some time head over to the forum post HERE and put your 20c in.

Alternatively, leave your improvement comments here, I’m always interested in knowing what others think smiley
