Ahoy mateys, I just thought I'd let you know these ships aren't sitting on a shelf gathering dust; they're nearly ready for release! :dance
Bonjourmonami sent me the Maya files via e-mail, so the final stages now are: texture improvement, exporting the whole ship, and making the walk files.

However, I've hit a snag with the export process, since I can't seem to get the whole lot exported properly.
All I get is the hull, with no locators, and no obvious errors along with it. It's got me stumped, but I'm sure there's a way around it.

Once that's overcome, and everything is finished, I'll release the ships in this thread and on ModDB.
Not much longer to wait, now! ;)

EDIT 16/05/2012: Both ships are finished and are now included in the latest version of Build 14 (Beta 2.1) for PotC. :keith

*Please note, the special abilities are currently exclusive to Build 14 Beta 2.1 and have NOT yet been developed for any other mod versions, including Gentlemen of Fortune for CoAS.
Also, you do NOT need to download the separate files if you already have Build 14 Beta 2.1.
The files are NOT directly compatible with any previous versions of the Build Mod.

I'm checking the Black Pearl first, and will upload a first version later for people to have straight away. ;)

The QAR will take a little longer, plus the fact that it needs some coding done to get it in the game.

the models are finished. Armada is fixing the walkfiles so that the crews don't walk in the air. I don't know how to do that coding so I asked Armada for help and he agreed to do the walkfiles for me.
 
@ Glogoglo and FKWOLF, that video was posted by the modeller himself to show the ships in action during testing.
They are ready for use in the game, but the ships still need new crew walk files (which make the crew walk around on deck at sea).
The QAR also needs to have its stats (like hull strength, number of crew, cargo capacity, speed etc) made before it's release worthy.

If you really want the ships that badly, I can upload the models with preliminary code (but not the walk files; they're not done yet).
However, doing it this way will mean you'll have to add the code yourself by following some instructions I'll give you. Are you up for that? ;)

it looks dificult and inthe video the crew doesnt look very good
so i maybe wait you to upload the walk files,the model,etc
im just a begginer and i tought tah if you give me the model and texture files ive could play it on my aop:caribbean tales by changing the name of the ship model
ex.:QAR_mast1.gm to frigate_mast1.gm
so that for any file
and put the textures on the frigate file on HULL1,2,3
but if you say that is better to wait until you have the walk files.........ok man

Armada thank you for the opportunity, I accept your proposal, if you give me instructions on how to do this, I think I know how, but it would be better to give me instructions to make sure that it will work, just send me the files, I put the codes. :onya

I do not need instructions, I know what I do, the stats it's easy for me to create, and I have textures of the QAR I used in a job, I need only the model and the initial textures, for I start work on the QAR. I accept your offer too, Please Armada send to me the files. I'm sorry for my english, I'm not English...

Here's how to install them:
  1. Make a back-up of the current Black Pearl model folder (RESOURCE/MODELS/Ships/Blackpearl), and ships code file (PROGRAM/Ships/ships_init.c).
  2. Extract the 'RESOURCE' folder to your PotC game directory, and allow it to overwrite all the files.
  3. Install the code updates for each ship (see below).
  4. Start the game, load a savegame (or start a new game), and press F11 for the changes to take effect. You can find the new ships in Vanderdecken's shipyard (they're fairly expensive).
For the Black Pearl code updates
Open PROGRAM/Ships/ships_init.c in a text editor such as Notepad, and find the line:

There should be three occurrences of this line. For each one, scroll down slightly until you find:

This line:

refShip.Walk				= "BlackPearl";
Delete 'BlackPearl', but keep the quotation marks (" ").

And this line:

refShip.WaterLine			= 0.3;
Change 0.3 to -0.7, and save the file.

For the QAR code
Open PROGRAM/Ships/ships_init.c in a text editor such as Notepad.
Then, open 'Ships_init_ENTRY.txt' which came with the model files, and copy its entire contents.
Paste the contents into ships_init.c, just above this line:

I've adjusted the code so that the ships won't use flying crew on deck, so they have no crew for the moment.
Feel free to improve the textures or rigging if you see fit. If anyone can come up with some really film-accurate textures, be sure to send them to me for the next patch! :onya

I didn't realise you made a new sail texture. Is yours for the cursed or uncursed Pearl?

The code I posted is for the latest version of Build 14 for PotC; I should have mentioned that earlier. :facepalm
They probably won't work for AoP yet (unless you replace some other ships), so you'll need to ask one of the AoP modders to add the code for you.

oh and i dont remember if i asked you this:
in potc,when i want to start a new game,it crashes.......ive instaled normaly with 2 disk with deamon tools lite and deleted it and re-instal it but nothink
oh and ive downlaod the build 14 full and build 14 beta patch 6 and still crashes
plz help
cuz on potc looks better and its easyer

Have a look around this forum and you'll get an idea of who can help you. I don't want to recommend someone, since they might be too busy to help. :shrug

Oh, and about your technical problem, the place to ask about it is this sub-forum.

FKWOLF, have you seen our current patched sail texture for the Black Pearl (like in this image)?
