Guide CoAS Walkthrough guide

For the TOTEM 2 in the Technochilian Quest. The elusive one...

The item is inside the cave that connects the beach to the jungle of San Juan del Norte behind some stalagmites...

In the options file remove the grass animation to none, this might help to find the TOTEM

You can also buy it from some merchants

This guide is really helpfull... except it doesn't really give you indication of what rank you should be to do them.
I got the Ascold quest at like rank 10, and reading through the guide, it looks like I will eventually have to fight 10 manowars. hmmm think I'm gong to have to sit on this one for awhile.

Wish we could get suggested ranks added to the guide.

It is not really a matter of rank.

A lot of the quests are quite easy to do - finding things , looking for ships etc - but occasionally the game creators put in a really "hardcore" task in the middle of a quest. - such as the 10 manowars ( I personally think this one is madness - since you are supposed to board each of them looking for something in the Captains Cabin on one of them :shock )

The other major hardcore task is fighting your way through the temples in the Tenochitlan quest. :ixi :modding

I think they did these things just to challange the hardcore gamers. - But personally I find they are not really that much fun to do.

I have tried both Caribbean Tales and City of Abandoned Ships. The former doesn't seem to have any quests besides from the main one, but I wonder this about the latter:

In the Peter Blood storyline, is there a story after the escape from Barbados, such as finding a "city of abandoned ships", or are there only "sidequests"?

I have just left Barbados and am currently in the French town on Martinique. I'm hostile with Spain and Holland and neutral with England and France. I guess I can't show myself in English colonies, and certainly not Barbados. I should probably try to "clean my name" with England somehow, and what about the mention of sailing to Curacao? There is a man who wants to meet me in the dungeon at midnight, and I have tried several times but he is never there. I don't have much money and don't have much crew. Any hints and help about what to do now would be appreciated.

CoAS has several side quests, some which repeat, others that you can only do once. It also has five story lines, one for each nation, including pirates.

Concerning the man that wants to meet you in the dungeon, don't wait til midnight.

One minute after and he wont be there. Just follow him immediately there. If you are just starting go to your save just after you dock. You are too inexperienced to face him. If you are playing on a higher difficulty setting like corsair or above, he will have a friend that will try to attack you from behind.

These guys are really tough, but have very good items for looting once they're dead. Be ready when you face them. They are actually part of a bigger quest later on. I've said too much....

Enjoy

Okay, thanks. Should I pick someone to work for, then, or should I work for everyone? Either way I would like to know how I'm supposed to do anything at all. As I said I do not have much money or crew. Low crew means I can't sail or fight at sea very good, and there's not much crew available for hire. Am I supposed to try to complete missions under these circumstances and work my way up from there? Any suggestions?

The man is never there. Even if I follow him immediately he's not there when I enter the dungeon.

The man is never there. Even if I follow him immediately he's not there when I enter the dungeon.

This is the Austin Quest - quest book only has entry at the end of quest.

If you follow him to the dungoen he should be there ( as long as it is not close to midnight ) - search all the dungeon carefully - he will be in one of the side passages.

Be careful - after he talks to you he will attack you & another man will attack you from behind - when you have killed them - there is a lot of money on the bodies.

:cheers

So, if you choose pirate as your home nation with either the CM or GoF, will oliver trust be in bermuda, or will the quest break, or what?

I got a problem concerning the second stage of the pirate questline.

The walkthrough says "On disembarking, you'll be arrested for complicity with a bandit". However nothing special happens when I go to Port Royale. Flying the English flag I will just regularly enter the town and as a pirate I will be attacked.

@CaptKraut
You actually have to start going towards Morgan's residence after you make the left along the fence b4 you get to his house, you will be intercepted, hence trigger the convo and the imprisonment.

um an addition to the "governor quest: find pirate ship." I have found out that when the pirate ship is not aviable to you right away (yer in port and sailed to all possible ships ye can, boarded and such, resulting in all traders/soldiers) it can be found when going to the map and actually start circling the island, while trying "exit to sea" and "sail to" every now and then. if no new ship is found, repeat and search the whole coastline of island this way. i found a dutch pirate ship, tasked at fort orange near port royal that way. As ye cant actually "sail to" over such a distance it was unaviable. i was able to "teleport" back via the trade ships however.

can any1 pls tell me how long it takes to be in a governors favor? i do missions for all of them, but not once has friendlyness gone up. or can ye only add friendlyness to 1 nation at a time? i'm trying to do this nondiplomat, i know that way is way shorter, but for now i still think it's fun doing governor jobs.

edit (31/08/2011) hope this is the right place for this. i didn't find this on the forum, only bits and pieces. wrote it from my own experience

Since a sharpe walkthrough is needed, here is what i did.

i hope my quest will end good as i raided the santa catalina pearl diver village before (non quest related, found it while searching for a cave).

this quest is noted in the log as: "Find where the pearl divers try their ply or so"
after morgans quest of killing law, i spoke again to him, so it acted as a normal conversation i guess, but he
mentioned i could find sharp at any brothel, where else would you find a pirate eh?

so i took off to speak to the miss in the brothel, she said he took off too willemstad. (i'm playing dutch, some1
shud verify if it always directs you to yer governor town). so, we have our heading... Willemstad.
update(first 1 of quest): I learned that sharpe took off to willemstad which is in Curacao.

I arrive at willemstad, only to find out there aint no brothel... trying to talk with every1 the same way you
track down Law didn't help either, tavernkeeper nor dockwatch knows anything. now what...
For sure asking EVERYONE is asking everyone. if ye land in a town just snap the first person wandering
about. He'll tell ye if shark is in town or not. if he left, get ye booty to the next place ASAP, this may take a
while tho, so i don't know wheter or not you could do this whilst doing merchanting to keep crew happy or not.

If ye think the distance is too long, save before mooring and ask ppl again. i don't know (being an impatient
soul) if you could save/reload this for him to actually be in the town.

Anyway. once ppl say Mr sharp is in town, save, search for a really fancy looking guy. this will be sharp, can't
miss him. dunno if ye gotta search tavern n such, i met him wandreing the streets. he will tell ye where the
divers are, and how long they'll stay there.

found some threads that say he can also have just left town, in that case you seem to be able to "sail to" his
ship, if yer quick enough, but i wasn't lucky enough to get this, dunno how it works. seems his ship on map has purple sails

Alright after this short search for info, we're of on a 10 day limit san juan-turks trip. Arriving in the
archipel of turks, exiting the map and mooring to said shore, the divers have left an quest was finished saying
i'll need additional info on where they'll be from Captian sharp.i was in time, log says, and even seen the
tartanes, but i couldn't board em when i reloaded, i just ate em with my ship-of-the-line. other tartanes
(pirates, random map encounter) could well be boarded before i ate em. guess we'll need some more brothel
searches to see if quest continues.*

the next time you meet up with sharp, he'll ask a fee for the info, as you are taking money from him. you can try
to lower this, but you'll risk losing friendship, i didn't try if you can actually track him down after closing
the conversation closes, me not paying. choose a meeting places with the pearl divers

*!!!!
Ok so here is how it is to be done. ye take a very fast ship, outspeed those tartanes, and when yer in boarding
distance these divers will give you a certain amount of pearls. so make sure that you filled your ships chest
with yer trashy weapons and potions, and empty your pockets since they don't plan on overloading you. Don't go to
your cabin when ye meet the tartanes, cuz else yer getting a conflict with thefact you ended your quest and it
total count is noted, whislt you can still add more pearls. (actual game update telling some error every 5
seconds... like the log update text. try if you like.). when you cant get any more tartanes, moor or go to map
and return for the log update and the pearl count.

repeat this quest whenever you like, as long as ye don't kill his spy.(other quest for sharp)

Hello everyone. I am at my wit's end with the Austin questline.

I have a save JUST before I talk to the guy, in Antigua, I went and talked to him myself because I know the way he looks. So I talked to the guy, tried both waiting for midnight in town (funny bug because if you simply WAIT in town people never go to bed - it's either a bug or I walked in on the Antigua carnival or something), and waiting on my ship and then going in the port, and still he's nowhere to be found in the Antigua dungeon, where he disappears after you talk to him. Should he be somewhere in the maze of tunnels?

What am I doing wrong? I need to start things off in Antigua because i'm english, and it looks like the easiest beginning. Already level 5 and got my eyes on that sweet sword.

When the guy tells you to meet him in the dungeon before midnight then runs away - you can follow him straight into the dungeon and he should be in the maze of tunnels somewhere.

Don't wait for midnight to come before going there :no otherwise he will not be there - you must find him in the dungeon before midnight

Hi!

I'm new to this foroum and this game and I really love them. But I have a problem. Except that it's a bit lagging (which doesn't stop me from loving the game), I have some simple questions about two quests:

1) I had got the Blue Bird quest with Peter Blood but hadn't started it yet, then I erased that profile and started a new game with Nathaniel Hawk. After 2 game months had passed, I saw these walkthoughs and dicided to do the Blue Bird quest to get the ship, so I would have the escape ability if the game was lagging in a battle. But I can't remember if a merchant has never asked me to help him, or has asked me and I refused (cause the walkthrough says he usually ask you at the begining and I want to know that if you decline, you will have an other possibility to do the quest.

2) In a city a man told me to talk to him in the dungeon before midnight. (I didn't know it was the Austin quest, but I accepted. Now I know.) So during the day I tried to find the dungeon. I found it, but didn't enter it. I went to the tavern to sleep till the evening. When I woke up I noticed it was 12:40. I entered the dungeon and didn't find the man. (I know you have to meet him before midnight, but I didn't know it then.) So the quest was cancelled. Can it be repeated, or I have lost it forever?

I know they are stupid questions and the most sure answer is to start a new game but I'm trying to find a way to change it.

Sorry Mate,

Not good answers on either question.

Bluebird quest starts the first time you talk to a merchant of your own nationality. If you decline the quest, it's over.

If you don't go to the dungeon to fight the killer(s) (there's more than one in the dungeon the higher difficulty you play), the quest is over.

I always advise players to go to an earlier save if you encounter one of the Austin quest killers before you are at a level high enough to face them. This way you can avoid them until you are ready to face them. They are really tough.

Thanks for your fast answer! Well, I will start a new game since I always overwrite the old saved game and I can't now go back...
