This is my lazy project. Working on her when getting tired of converting other models.

She was an expedition vessel of Vitus Jonassen Bering who's noted for being the first European to discover Alaska and its Aleutian Islands.
She was built in Russia in 1740, her displacement was 250 tonnes and she was armed with 14 guns (10 8-pounders and 4 4-pounders). She was involved in a famous expedition with her sister ship "Sviatoi Pavel"(St. Paul)- another snow of the same size and displacement.

I think she would become a suitable replacement for a stock brig when finished. Although it is easy to make her look like 17th century vessel because of her conventional hull shape (just need to make a minor changes of the rigging and other details) so I'll probably make two versions of her.

Let it snow! :onya

If you're looking for me I'm already outside...

Nice work by the way, keep it up!

looks great! I might have to borrow that blue texture for some of my ships! :keith one thing I noticed is that you might want to use smoothing groups on the hull, or just wait until shes maya and set the the normals to smooth

Thanks, I know about smoothing. It is just an experiment with the polycount. Don't want to make the hull too heavy on triangles on the early stages, as I did with my first ship Castel Friedrichsburg. It is always easier to smooth objects then to reduce the polygon count.

An update. Worked on deck elements mostly and fixed a hull shape a little.

Nice. When you get to the anchors, I have some good reference material for you.

I'll get the material up on Wednesday- my schedule until then is pretty hectic. If you want to start before then, some of the information is included in the Rossiya thread.

Many thanks, Post Captain!

A question to the HoO guys. Are there any requirements or restrictions for the HoO models? Such as number of polygons, level of details etc. What is the collision and damage model? Shall I create some damaged parts like detachable shattered bulwarks, railings etc, like modelers sometimes did for COAS? If this information was already stated somewhere in HoO forum, just give me a link, please. I just don't have enough time at the moment to search for it myself.
