Screenshots thread

Colosseum

Freebooter
Storm Modder
I searched around and couldn't find one of these for the Build mod. So I figured I'd create it and dump some of my stuff into it:

And of course, the HMS Surprise:

Mods, feel free to merge/delete this thread if there's a screenshot thread somewhere else that I missed.

Otherwise, post your own!

Greek Fire? Is the Queen Anne's Revenge anywhere around there or is that a bug?

One tip for screenshots: pressing F9 will hide all on-screen interfaces and texts, making the pictures more scenic. :onya

Good shots, we can post on the ModDB and various other places; always good to occasionally post stuff to show that we're not dead. :cheeky

You have my permission to post on ModDB, of course! Anything to help the mod out, be it extra publicity or whatever.

The hull is nice... But having worked with real period accurate sailcloth, I can't stand that sail texture.

Do you have a ModDB account yourself? You'd be welcome to post them on there. :woot

When it comes to period-accurate sailcloth, does the Build default look right to you?

If not, what SHOULD it look like?

Good idea to have a thread like this. It's nice for people to share their favourite shots this way. :onya

All I'd ask is that images are put inside spoilers using this code: "
- YOUR IMAGE HERE -
".
That will just make things a bit neater. Lots of images visible at once make the page a nightmare to load.

The default looks a little better, but it's still far too brown. New sailcloth should be the same color as new canvas, either bleached or unbleached. (Both are white, one is more white than the other.) It could also have light pinkish or peachy-tan-ish tints.
Older canvas is the same color as new canvas, only thinner and faded to a more gray version of the original color.

I think the seams in the canvas are also far too noticeable. They should occur in vertical, unbroken strips and be almost unnoticeable from a distance.

(Those darker vertical stripes you see are lines used to raise the sails in preparation for furling.)
The same sails, years later...The tops'ls, and inner and outer jibs are new.

I can provide very detailed pictures, if you like.

So our 'pure white' sails, like in Hylie's screenshot above, are probably the most realistic, right? (Ignoring the emblems, of course)

Yep. The reeflines could be a bit smaller and lighter, but the texture is the most accurate one we have at the moment. We''l probably need new ones for HOOCOTS. One thing I don't think we can control right now is the positions of the reeflines on the sails and the number of rows of reeflines. The reeflines on a stays'l, for example, would be closer to the bottom of the sail.

Yes, that's an annoying limitation. We can only have two versions of each texture; one for standard use, and one for sails that can have 'emblems' on.
I still don't know how the game decides which sails can use emblems, though. :read

How do I take screenshots and where are they stored by the way ?
And is there a way to have the sailors white clothe not as bright during the nights ? (Maybe through ENB has someone nice values for the INI?).
Thanks.

You can even use PrintScreen on your keyboard and then Paste in Paint, save as JPG. Use Alt+Tab in Windowed mode to make more than one in the same game session.
The TGA method is quicker for multiple screenshots though.
