Some suggestions

Hello mates. First of all, congratulations for developing so many wonderful mods. They've made this great game become even greater. What I'd like to give as suggestions to improve the gameplay (please forgive me if these were already given before, I've browsed some of the topics and I couldn't find anything similar):

1-) It'd be great if there'd be an option that would allow you to use your fighters only in certain conditions (like only when you go offshore). For example, I can't recall how many times I had to restart an invasion because one of them had died during the struggle (who likes to lose an "investiment" anyway). Well, I know you can always go to the menu and remove them manually, but that would make the process much easier.

2-) It's quite boring when you have to give or store large amounts of stuff such as gold or bullets. It'd be cool if you could write off the exact amount you're wanting to give or store somewhere.

3-) Whenever you're being chased by bounty hunters, they all get around you without giving you too much time for even thinking. Sometimes they won't believe that I'm not actually myself (quite controversial), so all of a sudden everyone starts killing each other. Sometimes my fighters accidentally hit a bullet on one of the stupid guards, and that means game over for me. I won't lie to you that it's actually funny, but quite frustrating as well.

4-) I noticed that the mods that are being developed are looking forward to make the game as realistic as possible. Well, how about having an option where you could remove skeletons and ghost ships? The quest that the priest gives you could be replaced by killing criminals, bringing captains from other nations to justice etc.

5-) One of the things that I loved in Sid Meier's Pirates! was the fact that you could join a nation and work for them until you'd reach the top and then conveniently backstab them at your own will. I guess that's how a pirate would really act. I find quite disappointing the fact that you gotta restart your game to work for a different nation here in the COAS, it'd be cool if you could work for all of them in the same run.

6-) Just as a final suggestion, I always loved the Uncharted Waters I & II OSTs, maybe some of their songs could be also incorporated on the game.

That's basically it. Arrrrrrrrrrr keep up the good work, mateys. :ship

THe GOF modders always appreciate input, suggestions and complements mate. Thank you. :thumbs1

You realize that by using the "H" button you can tell your fighters to Hold. When you want them to follow you use the "G" button. This way if you're in dungeons or run into pesky bounty hunters you can make sure your fighters stay put. Jonathan Aldridge coded that for us and its in all versions of GOF.

I tried doing the skeleton substitution for GOF and just ran into too many issues. The quest files are like a root system - they have pieces everywhere. One little thing out of place and she doesn't run. ----- I DID think about simply assigning (renaming) new models/textures to all skeletons. That would be the simple workaround and I may still attempt that.

You know that you can give your gold to the money lender to store for you right? There are several towns that hardly ever get attacked. I have money all over the place and it gains interest fast.

I listened to the music files you provided links to. I really need to try that game. There are a couple of pretty cool tracks. Its mostly either Jazz with Japanese singers or electronic though. I saved a couple of them just to have, but I don't think they really fit GOF very well. If you like them, its very easy to put them in your own game. If you have VLC media player you can convert them to ogg files. Then simply rename them to match ones in the current ogg folder and substitute them.

Ahoy MK! Thank you very much for your reply! Not at all, you deserve all the compliments in the world, the GOF is simply the best mod ever.

I didn't know about that "H" button feature, thanks for sharing the information with me. I'll certainly give it a try on it later.

Ah I understand... Yes, the way you described it really seems tricky. Even though, I'm happy that you still have a solution for it on your sleeve.

Ah I know, I used to do that until the dutch attacked one of the colonies where I had a whole lot of money stored and then I decided to keep it only with the bankers that would work under my own flag. But my point was, when you have to store bullets somewhere, you can't select the exact amount you want to store, it's either one by one or all at once. Even if you keep the arrow pressed, it takes an eternity until you can have enough to move forward.

It's definitely a must. As for the songs, the ones that I think that would suit the game best would be "Mast in the Mist", "Caprice for lute" and the "Opening". Maybe "Portugal" could be played in the taverns too, I wonder. Thanks for the advice, but as a matter of fact, I love all the songs you've incorporated into the game.

Take care and thanks again! :cheers

Hey Razornetout mate, You can actually type in the number you want rather than using the toggle arrows. :type1

What I do when I have a lot of cash built up (2 million or so) is give 250,000 to the banks in each port as I stop. Even if I lose one or two to attacks the interest easily makes up for it when I drop back by to pick it up later and then deposit the same or larger amount in exchange.

Once you have large caches everywhere, it makes it easier to make large fleet repairs or do another set of Bermuda upgrades to a ship(s) you like after you've run low. Keep feeding it smartly and it will grow for you - just like in real life.

Keeping it in the bank, smart!

We all know that burried treasure in the sand doesn't give intrerest :D

Damn, for real MK? I promise you that I tried everything to have the option of typing the amount I wanted to store/withdraw, but I simply couldn't manage to find a way out. Is there any specific procedure that must be done to be able to do that?

I agree, I'd also have the habit of saving the gold in different banks, but the amounts were usually over 5 million, that's why I got so pissed with the situation. I may give it another chance to it in the future though.

Yep, getting those upgrades is really delightful. In my last run I've managed to develop the best ship I've ever played on this game and all thanks to the mod efforts.

Sure thing Officerpuppy, imagine if you'd have to kill all your crew after burying the loot? Dead men tell no tales. :wp

All I have to do is click on the box with the number in it and type.

Dead men tell no tales. :wp

They don't sail ships, either. How do you get off the island?

Thanks Post Captain, I shall definitely give it a try on my next run :)

Shiver me timbers, it's child's play. Like this:
