Actually, that would be the same minus the last 's'. Did you know that there are over thirty species of dolphin?

You may not remember me, I am a member from days long gone, an old friend of some of the oldest and wisest members here.

I was banned with someone called The Deep One if I remember correctly. My old name is skyliner.

By that same logic, elephants would be seals.

The common English name of dolphin causes much confusion.
If there is some form of elephant which is commonly referred to as a seal then that logic holds. ;)

I have sometimes seen, on boxes delivered to my workplace, a strip of tape sealing the lid closed which says "This is a security seal". What I want is a roll of tape which says "This is a security walrus".

Come now, good sir, you mean to tell me that you are not familiar with the order Pinnipedia? It was the elephant seal I wæß ręfērrîñg tø¡

Calling an elephant seal an elephant is technically just as incorrect as calling a dolphin fish a dolphin, no matter what the restaurants used to do.

Recently I watched two wood-pigeons sitting on a fence. They were obviously courting, with a lot of head-bobbing going on. One of them then decided to go to the next level. Either it was the fastest piece of pigeon nookie in history or something didn't quite go according to plan - the one making the move hopped on, flapped its wings very briefly, then got off again. The two then sat facing opposite directions, not making eye contact, and if I had to put a caption to the scene it would have been something like "I won't tell anyone if you don't". I don't know how to tell the difference between a male wood-pigeon and a female wood-pigeon, and it's possible the one on top didn't either.

Having said that, apparently bird sex is very quick. You don't want to be caught in flagrante delicto when a sparrowhawk flies past while looking for lunch. Which, in this particular garden, is a very real risk.
