Bug GOF Eras MOD Module #2 (v1.0) - The COMPLETE Guide to CURRENT Quest Line Functionality

TheBlackKnight

Corsaire Flibustier
Storm Modder
Pirate Legend
All,

This is for MK's, developers and other players benefit.
This is a VERY LONG and DETAILED post!

UPDATE: ModernKnight1 has not released an updated for this mod yet, so until I or others release fixes for this mod, this post shows exactly were the mod stands currently.

This post reports the functionality of major quests or if they need repaired or fixed.
GOF Eras v1 was based on the GOF 1.1 code, so some quests had not been fixed yet prior to the GOF 1.2 and GOF 2.0.7 releases that happened several months (or years) later.
I have provided links to online guides (highlighted quests in titles), if you really need assistance and are stumped for those quests.

This report is current as of the included boarding file and graphic updates that have already been released.

Keep in mind there are LIGHT SPOILERS in some of these notes below, so if you do not want to ruin a surprise, stop right after the first words of FUNCTIONAL or BROKEN.

If the quest is BROKEN, DO NOT start the quest as it may not be able to be repaired in game and you might need to start over unless you understand coding and development testing.
PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED is at your own game risk, but in most cases the overall risk is minimal.

If there is a really quick fix, I am reporting it now.
Many bugs and errors require a bit more code or file manipulation, but I have solved most of them fairly quickly.
A vast majority of basic graphical errors are related to GM models, character texture files, and portraits that were changed in the mod or from the original stock game in 2009 but not completely updated.
None of these errors cause game breaking bugs, and are mostly humorous in animations.

I don't want to piecemeal corrections and files without complete integration, because sometimes one thing can effect another leading to corrupted games or completely break your game, which could really piss someone off.

If you wish to correct the files yourself, just send me a message and I will help.

At this point, I have completed close to 75% of all the major quests in the game, one way or another....

HERE...WE...GO!

Important Quests

Peter Blood Walkthrough - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERRORS.
Ned Ogle's Portraits are wrong based on updated models. Minor error, requires update.
But its nice to see the updated models, right from the start.
Personally, I am partial to the updated Ned Ogle Russian Model, but "to each his own".
Final Spanish battle in Barbados is still hard as hell to complete with a low level early starting character without cheating regardless of difficulty level you choose.

Kill the Beggars Quest - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no bugs or issues noted.
A run around quest, if there ever was one....
This quest works regardless of your chosen nationality you just have to not be hostile with the English when you enter Port Royal (or sneak your way past the guards), so you can get to Oliver Trust.
If you are a pirate WITHOUT another nations flag raised, you are pretty much screwed because you are not going to be able to easily sneak around town (although it is POSSIBLE).
He will appear near the house of Henry Morgan.
I don't what happens if you are hostile with England and sneak through to Oliver Trust and then get thrown in prison.
Maybe they never let you out!

City of Abandoned Ships Questline - POTENTIALLY STILL BROKEN at final hurricane Diffindur swim to escape CoAS. Just to be warned.
Up to that point in the game completely functional.
This is being caused by several conditions, which are somewhat technical.
One that this game code driven based on the Storm Engine, and one that is not.
On some computer systems with Windows 7 and a nVidia graphics cards it can cause the game to crash completely, in others just the final storm, and some not at all.
I cannot isolate an individual reason, because it specific to your individual computer specifications.

Anyway the "Diving suit sequence" looks good, and has updated seafloor graphics which really are improved from the stock version.

"Tavern warp" debug function is the only bypass the hurricane swim that I found that works to continue and fix the problem before the final swim regardless of the source of the problem, see related GOF Eras post.
On some systems you can just turn off the storms temporarily with a modified script file.
On other systems you can modify a script file to "float in the air", but only disable the hurricane.
I wrote at least three? different C++ scripts and none of them fix the problem universally.
Not recommended to start this quest and end up getting a nasty surprise at the end until thr issue is resolved with the storm, unless you are willing to do a tavern warp and then sail back.
This is currently a game breaking bug without doing coding bypass.
Extremely frustrating!

ADD NOTE: All side-quests (Holy Candles, Layton Dexter, etc) were tested were found to be functional.
Maxim Taylor model incorrect but the Alice Taylor quest is functional.
Replacing Maxim Taylor with the "Christopher Condent" upgraded model version fixes this problem.

Ascold Quest - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, Only tested functionality up to the "Find the Indian Artifacts" (Ascold Quest #2) completion, so far no issues.
However, there is a item description mismatch on what you are supposed to actually find from what Ascold says and the log book original Russian translation.
This is an easy fix if you want to update the text, but it can cause some confusion on what items you are supposed to locate.
There is NO Indian red gold mask, as MK has the item set for a unique rare gold statue.
This will be updated when I release the HD inventory items pack.
Required items can be found properly in rare locations as well such as CoAS as an alternative to the "easy way".

NOTE: Ascold Quest #3 (The Spanish List) is IMPOSSIBLE to complete if you have already completed the French National Quest line due to the barmaid identifying you when you enter the tavern and calling the Spanish guards, UNLESS you capture the city and turn it over to another nation such as the French or take it for yourself and then come back later and even then I don't know if this possible, because of the coding because I still have not had time to test this function yet.

This one of the absolutely insane missions in this game, that I have to get around to completing.

Austin Quest - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no bugs or issues noted.
This is a LONG, run around quest with a lot of chances to screw up and break the quest line so most will not see "Austin" until late in game if at all, when you have a high stealth skill, or use items to boost skill.
99.99% of the time people say this quest is broken is because they made errors along the way, or could not follow the subtle clues.
Rare items on Austin's possession including weapons, a VERY LARGE sum of money, and a unique character model not seen elsewhere in game.
There are NO log book annotations for this quest until it is COMPLETED, which is not a bug, but based on the intent of the original game code, as it should be IMHO.
A "hidden gem" CoAS quest.

Blue Bird Quest - FUNCTIONAL WITH ERRORS, Correct up final engagement then the quest is bugged if you attempt to board the ship, as it reports the ship escaped even after you capture it.
I believe this is related to boarding file surrender changes.
Only way to currently complete the quest is to SINK THE SHIP which I found to be rather difficult because ship cannon damage seems "minimized" (Akella coding?) when you attack the ship, even though I already know how many hull points she roughly has in game.
Drop her sails or she definitely will escape.
If you really want to command a Blue Bird, just generate one in the shipyard after the quest is over. There are much better quest ships in game (Sea Wolfe, Queen, The Dog of War), but not early on.

Tenochtitlan Quest - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, with minor errors noted.
Totems can be found in their proper world locations and are sold by traders based on increasing skill rank.
Keep in mind if you already own the respective totem, or already sold it to a trader, it WILL NOT be generated in world!
This is not a bug, just a side effect of the way items are set for generation.
If you lost the items, the only way to get them is to buy from a trader randomly again or generate them.
Several totems are very rare, and will not likely show up for a LONG time.
I personally was able to spot every totem in world, and I found 12 out 13 totems at traders as well while doing testing.
Once quest is completed, totems are no longer sold by traders.
YEAH, I am glad this one quest that was not missed...

SIDE NOTE: One of the chests in Teno swimming through the underwater labyrinths still has an interesting surprise!
Dependent on your player character model there could be graphical distortions on the swimming animation.
This is unavoidable, as this is caused by the wave animations generated by the sequence changes and is the only place this happens in game.
It is not an easy fix because the all models would have to be rewritten which is not worth the effort for something very few people will see unless you are "hardcore".
Normal character models were not meant to "swim underwater".
You need to do this swim in order to get the best "pistol" in the game.

Search for Sharp's Spy Quest - BROKEN, no way to continue quest after meeting the Spanish soldier as NPC native indian and pearl village population is not generated.
DO NOT start!

Isabella Quest ("Le bella Isabella") - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERRORS.

Mission #2 (Miguel de Valdez) - When transporting Isabella's brother, Miquel de Valdez, back to San Juan, he has no portraits in the Character GUI after he joins your ship.
Model is fine.
This was an oversight from the original game.
Requires console fix to update.
Minor Error.

Mission #8 (Save Isabella on the Brig) - Humorous model error.
The mod is currently programmed to have the Ship Captain of the "Rapturous" to be the Jackman model.
I never even knew he ever got out of his seat from Bermuda except for the Invasion of Panama with Henry Morgan quest.
I believe this was the stock character model used from the original game, but I cannot remember because it has been too long since my original playthrough 4? years ago.
Minor error, should be updated with a different model, as this does not make logical sense in game.

Mission #12 (Rosita Hernandez) - Rosita (Isabella's cousin) has bad GM model / incorrect texture set mapping from the original game.
This was never corrected EVER in any mod.
Minor error, requires update.

Mission #14 (Completion) - Personal log never updates after the final mission, because she is still an active character in your career, FOREVER even if you decide to stop being a privateer.
This is not really a "bug", so don't be concerned.
This quest was originally meant by the developers as a FAILURE.
If you want to END this quest, visit a brothel, and find out what happens!
There are a few more quest lines dependent after you get married, so there are interesting developments
I did notice Isabella has a slight animation model errors from the original game, but nothing serious.

I really forgot how long this quest really is in game.
What a serious pain for a free "booty call".
Shiver me personal "peg leg"!

Flying Dutchman (Ship of Souls) quest - BROKEN, No NPC "White Boy" is generated in Pearl Village to continue quest after being sunk the first time by the Flying Dutchman.
I have not yet tested what happens if you are sunk more than once, so I will leave this surprise to those who enjoy REAL pain and keyboard banging.
I remember how funny it was tho meeting "him" in the tavern...
DO NOT start!

Enchanted City Quest - FUNCTIONAL WITH ERRORS after you acquire the Jade Skull.
At final completion after engaging the Brig Queen, Danielle Sheppard model texture and gm models are incorrect AND game does not recognize her for portraits when she joins crew.
Requires console.c script fix to generate portraits properly.
Model texture and gm model replacement from the Russian mod required to eliminate graphic distortions or you can use my HD model which I will release in the future with corrected animations and textures.
Danielle is a worthwhile officer in your crew, even very late in game, plus the "Royale Brig Queen" is one of the fastest and most maneuverable ships in the game without modification of ship statistics.

Double-Barreled Musket Quest - BROKEN at final discussion with Humphrey Douglas when you give him the musket.
The fix to this problem requires a special Buho quest script item fix to be applied BEFORE you talk to him.
Otherwise he turns "invisible" and is unusable as a NPC Companion Officer.
This was a result of ORIGINAL game poor coding for the animations with the musket.
This script is available if you do a file search on Pirates Ahoy!

Don't EVER give Humphrey Douglas ANY OTHER WEAPON than his carbine or his character animation breaks and he turns invisible forever!
There is no current fix for this without rewriting the animations into the character model from the stock game, which is not going to happen unless I really fee entertained to take time into add animations, which defeats the purpose because he is supposed to carry a rifle anyway.
You will have to reload a saved game to reset his character.
Just remember single rule above, he is worth the time to have in your crew and watch out for friendly fire.
Final note: The same problem will occur with other characters if you start spawning "musketoons" into your game and giving them to officers that do not have "mush" animation files. It is possible to equip many characters with muskets, but you have to know which already have animations, and which DO NOT.

Find where Pearl Diver's Ply Their Trade (Captain Sharpe) - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no bugs or issues noted.
Captain Sharpe character model is the updated Russian version, and looks good.
Keep in mind this quest is no longer available if you ever accept the "Search for Sharp's Spy" quest.
I don't know what happens if you are in the middle of the quest, and then start "Search for Sharp's Spy", but my experience tells me the logbook will never update, there will be no further progress and it will probably be bugged.

Nation Quests

Dutch Quest Line - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL (Thanks MK!)

English Quest Line - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL (Thanks MK!)

French Quest line - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERRORS

French Mission #2 - Deliver the Letter to Curacao, after being arrested and placed in prison, the visitor, Gheret Paeson (or equivalent character in your game) who goes to search your ship for documents is a distorted low grade texture model from the original game.
This is one of the models used for prisoners. GM model does not match texture, requires upgrade. Minor error. The spanish privateer captain on the galleon that you capture, his portraits are wrong in game which display Beatrice Devlin, requires upgrade.
Minor error.

French Mission #3 - The Donna Anna Affair PART I, Commandant Jose Ramirez de Leiva's Spanish model has a completely messed up textures.
This is similar to the "Ship of Souls" quest line Spaniard texture error, which is being caused by models that have been replaced but do not match the GM model. No distortion just bad textures. Minor error but quest is functional. Requires correction.

French Mission #6 - Letter for O'llonais , Spanish Ship captain has the wrong portrait, Beatrice Devlin, requires upgrade. Minor error. No ability to transfer cargo (food, medicine, etc) from partner ships when attacking Cumana (as coded by Akella), so do the mission FAST and don't wander around the Caribbean or the ships will mutiny against you and leave!

French Mission #7 - Breaking Rock, Personal Log still shows the Roc the Brazilian is in Havana, which is incorrect from dialogue from the original game, which should be Santiago. Minor text error, but could be confusing to new players.
There is NO treasure of Roc the Brazilian in this mod (Special gold cuirass in dungeon of Fort De France) right now because all cuirasses have currently been disabled from the game. Needs update. Not a deal breaker but a bummer.

French Mission #8 John Morris and Captain Guay are using the same character model ( original game Rock the Brazillian) when completing the logbook sub quest. A little confusing. Minor error from original game, needs updating.

Spanish Quest Line - NOT TESTED (FUTURE)

Pirate Quest Line - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERRORS.

Pirate Mission #3 - The Black Spot has a black screen at the Le Francois tavern when you need to talk to the bartender to find Edward Low.
You must update your graphic files from MK to fix this problem before you enter the tavern.

Pirate Mission #4 - Kill Edward Low has a boarding bug when you attack the Brig Sea Wolfe.
The Sea Wolfe is reported as sunk even if you capture the ship, but this does not break the quest, but you cannot get an additional closure from Jackman.
This is related to board file surrender changes again I believe, as I completed this quest before adding the surrender file, and it worked fine.

Final Quest of "Invasion of Panama" is still a really BIG pain in the $%#.
No ability to transfer or buy cargo (food, medicine, etc) for partner ships when attacking Puerto Bello (as coded from Akella) so don't mess around in the Caribbean.
Do not try and get any other ships out of port control (cheating the mission) to add more ships to your fleet, because this causes a script error and will lock up the dialog screen, just head out to Puerto Bello.
The mission is coded for FIVE ships in the fleet and no more, so don't even try.
Also, do not try and dock at other ports, because this can also cause issues, namely the fleet is flying the "Jolly Roger" although this is dependent on nationality of the port, English ports you don't get attacked because of the coding leaving Antigua.

Based on my LONG experience and difficulty level, I could only complete the Invasion of Panama mission in "god mode".
It really does not matter what skill level you are as the quest is designed to be nearly impossible and you cannot use any personal companions fighters for this mission except at the far end.
Akella why did you feel to the need to ramp the difficulty so high here?
This was insane.
Updated models for Spanish soldiers and Indians from POTEHO due look nice however.

NOTE: If you are Spanish nationality and opt to due this last mission or you have done the Spanish quest line and received promotions and rank, you will LOSE your patent and status!
You have been WARNED!

ADDITIONAL NOTE: "Captain Goodley" game model keeps changing throughout this quest line from the Akella original model to "Edward Teague Sparrow" and back again, which can be confusing because you might not know who you are supposed to talk to for the missions....

FINAL NOTES:

1) Once you start a nation quest or the pirate quest line, you cannot start another.
However, you can complete up to pirate quest line #8, and then start a nation quest line if you missed the opportunity when you are released from Henry Morgan's service.
Just don't go back to Henry Morgan in one month.
Do "Invasion of Panama" absolutely last after completing a nation quest line.
However, when you visit Oliver Green you will find out that Henry Morgan has left Port Royale to...

2) Once you complete a nation quest line, you cannot do another due to script conflicts in game actions.
The PANQL mod cannot be used for GOF Eras, due to script changes, and has not been integrated successfully.
This is only functional for the stock game.
Trust me I have tried and spent WAY too much time trying to fix this gem.
If you want to see all the nation quest lines, start a different nation from your previous saved game and get a different Letter of Marque.
IMHO, the French and Dutch quest lines are the most interesting, entertaining, challenging and have the best length of game play.

Random Quests

Captive Groom/Bride - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no issues noted.

Woman Scorned - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no issues noted.

Governor's Quests - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, so far no issues

Lost Countryman - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no issues noted.

Priest Quests - BROKEN on multiple mission types, most from the original release of the game in 2009.
This was fixed on GOF 2.0.7, but not in this mod currently.
Guard watch mission text bugged and cannot be completed.
Cleansing evil mission still has nation reputation infinity exploit code bug.

Port Master Quests - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, so far no issues

Treasure Hunt - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL (all types), no bugs or issues noted.

Location of some Gifts - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERROR.
Items can be found in world as described after successfully answering nautical quizzes, however the personal log book text never updates to show recovery the specific item.
This was from the original stock game.
I believe the log error is caused by the fact that you can repeat this quest over again in different cities.
The personal log updates correctly when getting additional items, and is VERY accurate in its directions, which is a huge bonus over treasure map searches.
I don't know if there is a limit of items you can get on this quest which allows it to completely close the log entry, my experience with the game says no dice.
When I have the time I will check the quest line code.

Prison Quests - NOT TESTED (FUTURE)

Moneylender's Quests - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, so far no issues

Store Owner's Quests - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, so far no issues

Tavernkeeper's Missions - PARTIAL COMPLETION TESTED, so far no issues

Pirate Captains Quests - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, however these quests are only generated until your personal level exceeds NPC captains which then they stop completely.
This is NOT a bug, but the original game coding.
This might be a good idea to change this code, because NPC captains SHOULD approach you when you are renowned not the other way around.
Some NPC captains will start disappearing or never generate when you reach high level rank, as this was part of coding that captains have to near your skill level.
However, you can still approach to the captains that are available for an offer (including recruiting)...

NOTE: Word to the wise, if you want a specific unique HERO character to join your crew, have them join your crew early in the game (by accepting your offer and selling their ship out from underneath them), otherwise you might not ever see them again.
There seems to be a limit on the amount of NPC captains that are generated in the "real world" at any given time.
NPC Captains in your crew count against this number, but those in port control DO NOT.

This is most readily apparent in taverns when their are too many character models inside the tavern, and there are not enough "seats".
NPC captains will suddenly disappear like ghosts.
You can fix this by removing officers as fighters BEFORE you enter the tavern.

Easy Pickings - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no issues noted.

Golden Fleet - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, no issues noted.
MK recoded the Spanish Treasure Gold Fleet to be HUGE.
I had ten ships in the convoy I tested (I started to lose count), many of them VERY heavily armed with large crews.
Best to plan ahead on this one...

The best question I have yet to answer which I have never explored is what happens if you permanently capture the city of Havana for another nation?
Do the Golden Fleet quests end, or does the fleet just sail back to Spain?
Not sure on the coding here, and the quest line dialog does not provide a clear answer.

Bounty Hunters - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERROR, the personal log book always updates on encounters at land and sea correctly, however the log entry text will NEVER be removed as COMPLETED.
This is simply because you can be attacked by bounty hunters again if a nation becomes hostile to you again in game.
I have never found a way to correct this text error without potentially breaking the game.

Random FINAL NOTES:

1) The MAXIMUM number of ships you can store in PORT CONTROL of any city (without further modification) in this mod is THREE SHIPS.
Keep this mind when planning your adventures.
I recommend an upgrade to allow at least 5 ships per port.
Will post my personal file when I have time.

2) The MAXIMUM amount of gold your can store at a BANK is 10,000,000 "pieces of eight" dependent on the city in this mod (without further modification).
You can and will LOSE all your money if the city is looted by pirates or another nation!
I recommend an upgrade to at least 100 Million, late in game.
Will post my personal file when I have time.

All,

I have updated this list significantly to include more MOD quest testing for bugs, anomalies, and general play ability.
So far the results continue to be favorable.
Should be a big help for those who need to know if they should attempt to "go down the rabbit hole" and end up banging their head.
Mostly minor problems from the original coding that are easily repaired from existing fixes in GOF 1.2 or 2.0, or implemented code by myself.
The largest problem in quests right now is releasing the updated quest fixes for Ship of Souls (Kipper are you going to provide?), Diffindur swim in CoAS (which I cannot solve), and Bluebird (MK has the original code for changes in surrender), but everything can be gotten around somehow.

All,

With Modernknight1 deciding to "pack up shop" and not provide additional updates or fixes to this mod, I along with several others will most likely do the fixes ourselves.
I have repaired most of the quest errors already in my game installation, but it will take some time to compile all the files for general use.
Kipper if you are out there, I still would like to see your Ship of Souls quest file changes and model verification files.
The mod will live on...

Well, read the Kill The Beggars Quest again. Oliver Trust will appear in the colony where each nation's Governor-General is at. Port Royal for , Tortuga for FRANCE, Havana for & Willemstad for HOLLAND. So, y'know, please read your whole thread before posting it to see if there are any errors. Well, don't know if there's anymore errors because I'm too lazy to check the rest of the thread.

I recently took an interest in this game, and having coding experience, took it upon myself to resolve some issues in my copy. Many of these problems also exist in the original COAS, and GOF, but having just come across the ERAS mod, I posted many of the resolutions to that site. I have corrected the problems in my personal copies of GOF, ERAS, and in the cases that are relevant, original COAS so I am no longer annoyed by longstanding issues within each of these games.

Below is a response to the list of issues iterated in this thread:

City of Abandoned Ships Questline - POTENTIALLY STILL BROKEN at final hurricane Diffindur swim to escape CoAS. Just to be warned.

Exiting Tartarus fixed with minor code revision to some improper syntax...not an engine problem. Fix now puts player in water, swimming to Diffindur as expected; I was able to reach the mast and leave. Max Taylor character fixed with code revision, no model change. This fix requires one to have not yet prompted the Max character creation prior to speaking to the appropriate NPC and initiating the side-quest, when Max gets created within the game. If one tries to launch an old save from a time one was already at COAS to check things out, you have to use GetCharacterID in debugger and change a character property that is already set wrong for the existing character.

Blue Bird Quest

Have not yet completed Blue Bird as I started my first game in ERAS as a pirate, which renders quest unavailable. I recently changed this so that a Pirate character can obtain the Blue Bird quest if visiting a non-pirate store, and have now embarked, but I still need to complete. If there is an error about the ship 'escaping' when it had not really, I will figure this out shortly.

Search for Sharp's Spy Quest - BROKEN, no way to continue quest after meeting the Spanish soldier as NPC native indian and pearl village population is not generated.

Pearl Village issue was fixed by the mod originator -- simple code-striking to eliminate an array problem.

This is fixed by choosing a portrait from GOF for now; it doesn't match the new character's actual face, but at least it no longer shows as blank.

Flying Dutchman (Ship of Souls) quest - BROKEN, No NPC "White Boy" is generated in Pearl Village to continue quest after being sunk the first time by the Flying Dutchman.

Pearl Village fixed by original mod. I also inadvertently discovered a separate issue in my troubleshooting/debugging method where the Dutchman first encounter had the ship never attacking/firing at me. This had never happened before in several games I had initiated this quest and I believe it had to do with my order of initiating the quest, when the ship gets created, my ship rearrangement process, and my save/reload process at the particular time...regardless of the 'how' I never quite figured out, through tracing things, I found the Dutchman on the sea had no ammo after my game-save reload and never fired at me, though it circled as if on attack. In any case, even though it had never happened to me before, I figured out a way to fix so that it can never happen again, through some game OnLoad changes.

Enchanted City Quest - FUNCTIONAL WITH ERRORS after you acquire the Jade Skull.
At final completion after engaging the Brig Queen, Danielle Sheppard model texture and gm models are incorrect AND game does not recognize her for portraits when she joins crew.

Fixed Daniell portrait...kinda. It works like GOF where the portraits now show, but they don't really match the character model. I just don't bother with creating my own graphics...not what I do, and I'm kinda lazy that way ;)

There were some other error.log issues shown after obtaining the Jade Skull in Tenochtitlan with QuestCheckTakeBoxes and IsAztecSkullOfficer functions -- I fixed those.

English Quest Line - COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL (Thanks MK!)

Technically, there is a broken feature in the English Quest line in all COAS versions...the log for the Curacao Intelligence step is broken and no log entries show for some portions of it. I fixed this.

Also, if one opts for the Morgan attack after the Pirate refusals to Modyford's plan, the last dialogs with Morgan about trading gold-for-cash are gibberish in all versions of COAS, GOF, ERAS. I fixed this.

Pirate Quest Line - FUNCTIONAL WITH MINOR ERRORS.

Not related to surrender...merely a mismatched ship Type/ID comparison. I fixed this.

Final Quest of "Invasion of Panama" is still a really BIG pain in the $%#.

C'mon...it's possible. You just have to kill/occupy the enemy snipers quickly and make sure as many of your own snipers remain healthy...I've done it, you can too! Same with the Ascold Inca Temple. Be quick, or be dead :)

There are more...some problems with Ship/Character/Goods index and stack errors due to wrong array sizing/index setting that I fixed (e.g. fixed a game-freezing error in the Mayor accepting a bribe to eliminate a bounty, a feature that has been broken in all version of COAS, GOF, ERAS because of a call to a non-existent function). I slightly tweaked the Loyalty mod (the original loyalty fix was a good change, BTW) so that very devoted officers are sometimes likely to overlook an action contrary to their alignment; the more devoted the more likely, the less devoted the more unlikely they will disregard an action they don't like. More details are listed by me on the forum where ERAS can be found. Since these are all relatively minor code changes, I just listed the lines to change in a file and offer my substitutions.

Update:

Blue Bird boarding problem is fixed.
Skill books problem existing since GOF where they never show up with traders/store is fixed.
Added various man-o-war equivalent ships to Dutch questline success; otherwise only ONE kind of man-o-war would suffice (e.g. a San Felipe or Soleil would NOT qualify).
Another bug when storing more than a few ships at the port controller, but trying to retrieve ships 4-7 from the latter part of your storage list...game freezes in dialog -- this is fixed.
A couple log entries for Dutch Questline do not show; this is fixed.
A couple Spanish attack ships in the Dutch Questline break the game if the ship is boarded; there is no captain in the cabin and player cannot exit the cabin; this is fixed.

There was never a bug when boarding the Blue Bird. I have done it many times in GOF2. This makes your other claims suspect.

There was never a bug when boarding the Blue Bird. I have done it many times in GOF2. This makes your other claims suspect.

Not GOF 2, ERAS 2 and there was a bug where even when boarded/captured, log/quest shows failed:
