Not any time soon. We need to have something to show first.
Unless someone can make a collage based on the few WIP videos we do have and some pictures we posted.

Now that Hammie has given us a new screenshot, I figured we may want to see if we can do some promotion on this project again.
Also, I noticed that we haven't even got a HoO: CotS album on our Facebook profile yet. So here is what I'll do:
I'll post a new set of pictures each day, copying all the ModDB content onto Facebook (and therefore Twitter) as well.

So far, today I've started with the Concept Drawings as can be seen now here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.611960582148785.1073741826.307492605928919&type=1
Next up will be "Concept Schematic", "Models", "Concept Rendering" and eventually actual "Work in Progress".

Any thoughts?

That sounds like a good idea to me. Anything to put this project on the radar has got to be helpful. :onya
Cheers, Armada! I'm having to exercise some restraint to not post it all at once, but spreading it out should maximize the amount of people who might see it.
Then I'll try to post the occasional reminder about the whole "contributing" thing as well. Such as this one I added today:

Don't forget to participate in our survey, asking what YOU would like in this game!

When I was posting a few Hearts of Oak screenshots every few days on our Facebook Profile, we got up to 1272 people reached maximum.
My efforts to promote Build 14 Beta 2.5 on there has gotten us up to 794 people reached maximum.
My conclusion: On Facebook at least, there IS quite a substantial interest in that new game of ours. More so than our PotC work.

If that applies outside Facebook as well, that would suggests that our current and pretty amazing ModDB popularity for New Horizons could relate to vastly MORE interest in Hearts of Oak.
Once we've got something to show for it, of course. But anyway, I do think lots of people would like to see this project become a reality. :yes

That's very promising! I noticed you've been posting our WIP model images there, which must be helping to attract attention. :onya
For certain. See here in graph form:

Shame we've got not much else to be posting.

Napoleonic Period: (see above)

1st rate ship of the line
HMS Victory (DONE)
French Ocean Class first rate (WIP?)
Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Trinidad (WIP?) (No recently reported progress.)

if thats the Victory we all think it is why no Wip screens or video of it firing some boardsides
with the new water and stormshader?
i gues some wet pants from people from UK.

Armada says:
That's the same Victory, yes, but it's the model we already have in PotC and CoAS, which hasn't been updated with more details for Hearts of Oak yet.

Build 14 Beta 3.1 just released: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads
Gentlemen of Fortune 2.o just released: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/gentlemen-of-fortune-2-0.19345/
Eras Module 2 released a few weeks ago: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/gof-historical-eras-module-2.20344/
Also CoAS Combined Modpack v3.2.0 just unearthed: http://www.moddb.com/mods/city-of-abandoned-ships-combined-mods/downloads

In other words: LOTS of new stuff. Unfortunately I don't have time myself to advertise things anymore, but there's a lot of potential here!
I'd suggest somebody should make an article featuring ALL of the above AND a news update on Hearts of Oak.
Call it a "Global PiratesAhoy! Community Projects Update" article or something. That would give us an excuse to post it EVERYWHERE.
And get a lot of additional attention for all our projects, especially Hearts of Oak.

Captain Murphy has been doing some great WIP videos as well.
Would be especially great to be able to take the best parts of that and make a new development trailer with actual video material in it!

How is everybody thinking about putting this game up on kickstarter? I put school project p there and actually had 16000 new supporters andpeople that were intrested in it in about a week

This game isn't for-profit, so kickstarter isn't really something we are looking to do. It's been suggested many a time before

What if we do it anyway, have it fail but still have the added exposure? Just coming up with crazy crap here. :shock

Well, failed kickstarter could actually have a very negative effect on a project - on its casual fans who will lose interest immediately (hardcore evangelists will be fine) and most importantly on the team. Some people might jump ship. Especially professional mercenaries who are doing it for fame and glory.

It's better to grow slow like minecraft through forums than spoil your project start with a failed kickstarter

Do we want professional mercenaries?

Anyway, I told you it was crazy crap! :whipa
Well that was a metaphor. You might have people on the team whose only motivation is fame or a successful project finished - failed KS might give them other thoughts.

And you might get no exposure at all
Remember these guys

maybe it was the name - SOS sounds strange for a sailing game.

I would recommend to open a thread on Crydev's forum -> CRYENGINE Showcase Gallery -> Games. We can reach s bigger public because you see it directly if something new is up there and it isn't hidden behind all the other projects. :bounce
It's also an advantage that the other users can give a feedback.

I thought Armada already posted there? Or is that another subforum?
