I have been putting copies of my dev log vids on the Crydev project page and on ModDB and they are getting good interest. Any other venues we can post vids and screen shots to would be great. I can add them to my list of place to publish to.

Just today we have moved to #82 of the most popular games on ModDB, mind you that is just a 'per day' statistic, but still it is garnering interest. We do need someone to write up a weekly progress article though and just tie together all of the project progress. I can provide a list of all development progress weekly with relative ease and coupled with any story or content additions (renders of new assets and such) can be added to it so we can show that there is progress being made, no matter how minor.

I mean here: http://www.crydev.net/viewforum.php?f=353

As far as I know we have only a projects page in the projet database. Opening a thread could start some discusions about our game because you can directly write what you think about it and asking questions.

On the project page you can only see some pics and videos but you can't write anything. So there is no discusion, no spreadng, no growing interest on crydev.

So, with a thread in the game section we could reach a lot more people and can get in to the news on the frontpage and get growing support from the CRYENGINE-community.

Just my thoughts...

I thought Armada already posted there? Or is that another subforum?
The only thread I started there was in the Recruitment forum initially, and I haven't got round to adding a general discussion thread.
That IS a good idea, though. It also offers us a chance at being featured on the CryDev News page.

If you could provide brief, weekly progress summaries, then I could write some weekly articles based on that.
Thus far, I've only been doing irregular news updates, and having to trawl through the development threads hasn't helped, so this would be a huge improvement.
We could start this week even, which would be a good opportunity to open the news/discussion thread on CryDev as well.

Please note: I tried creating a new temporary thread and merging it with Advertising the Game, in an attempt to fix a forum glitch preventing me from replying.

Unfortunately, this didn't work. Instead, I tried creating a new thread continuing from it, and I still couldn't reply to that.
This post and my previous one are the results of two thread merges. :modding

Ok, I thought it was just me that couldn't reply to it. My problem is related to something in Chrome though, since IE let me reply just fine.

If you would like to do the initial post on that forum, I can add that to my list of places to post to when a dev update is out.

There will be a bit of a lull for a few days as I gut the buoyancy system as far as news goes, so it might be good to gather any WIP items and start hounding the content creators to get their projects rolling so they will be ready for when development is on task. I would hate to have developers sitting idle! If the content creators can get me their items to start rendering in game, I can add some into the videos I do to show it all off.

I have some problems in that area, along with some ideas. I'll PM you and some of the long-time head-coordinators.

OK, I've started a news/discussion thread and linked it to our project page. See here: http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?t=119990
I added a shortened version of the original thread to give people some background, including the screenshots and trailer, along with your latest developer video.

Heads up! I received this message a few minutes ago:
Dear Armada,

We have come across your project and we would like to feature it on the front page of CryDev.net on Monday.
Our front page is being visited by 44.000 individual users every week and much content from our front page is being reposted to other news sites and blogs.

If you have any questions, concerns or want to provide additional content, please get in contact with me until Monday.

Best regards,

Alireza
CryDev.net News Staff
The discussion thread has only been up for less than 24 hours, and the news team has already taken an interest.
If that's not a result, I don't know what is! :shock

So, as the message states: if anyone has any comments or content they want to be featured, please let me know ASAP.

Wait... are those people important? Are important people paying attention to us???

That's fantastic news!:shock is there any additional content/screens we can send to them? do they have our latest stuff on guns firing from the st albans? its already monday where I am so maybe its too late to post anything more

It might be good to respond and see if we can talk about getting the code for segmented world generation. You are welcome to send them to me for working it out.

I've now sent a reply asking them to feature a selection of screenshots from our project page, along with more recent ones of the Endeavour, Sphynx and Santisima Trinidad. I also asked them to show our trailer and some of Captain Murphy's videos, along with a brief background of PiratesAhoy!, and a recruitment message asking primarily for more content creators, animators and programmers.
No news article has appeared yet, so we're not too late, as far as I know.

I mentioned this request in my reply, so we'll see what they say. :onya

EDIT: Just received this reply from the CryDev News team:
Thank you for the response.
As for the segmented worlds it's a WIP feature and isn't ready yet.

EDIT: Just received this reply from the CryDev News team:
Well let them know I am a professional C++/C# developer and don't mind debugging their system or helping make it work.

Latest response from CryDev regarding the segmented world code:
Well, I'm not a coder myself so I just don't know how to do it.
But the SDK team are already working on it and will be out soon.

EDIT: And their news article is now live! See here:
http://www.crydev.net/newspage.php?news=120031

Unfortunately, they missed out our original trailer and our latest engine screenshots, but it's a good article otherwise.

Very cool! How about advertising that on our own main page as well?
I'm posting it to Facebook and Twitter now. :cheers
