Hearts of Oak Wikia

Hello all,

I'm not sure if this is really classed as promoting the game however here it goes. Do we currently have a Wikia page and if not do you think it would be a good thing to add. For those who don't know what a wikia page is: http://ncis.wikia.com/wiki/NCIS_Database . That one is for NCIS its like Wikipedia with information about games, tv series etc. But it is more customizable and multiple people such as developers are able to edit it.

Sorry if this isn't meant to be in this section.
Ben

Would it be alright if I worked on setting up a Wikipedia and Wikia page for the Hearts of Oak project? I'd be happy to get them set-up.

As far as I'm concerned, you're more than welcome to. I would appreciate it if you could post drafts of what you'll be writing here so the staff can look it over and suggest changes. PM Armada, Captain Murphy, and me if you have any questions. We should be able to answer everything, and if we can't, we can invite more people to the PM.

Indeed that does sound like a good idea! The more places we're featured, the bigger the chance people will see it. :onya

Good idea in principle, but in practice, how are we going to keep these pages up-to-date alongside our existing sites and profiles? We can barely manage as it is already. :facepalm

For Wikipedia, we don't have to keep it updated with every little bit of progress we make. We only need to say what the game is, who's making it, and what we are planning to do. Then it will only have to be updated with the release date and other important information once or twice.

Yeah, Wikipedia's for games don't have much information on it besides big events that have happened. I know this strays right off from the game genre. But that habbo game, their Wikipedia has the information of the game, legal action and also talks about the times Anonymous invaded the swimming pool. That's sort of what we would need, if its important it should go on the Wiki.

Exactly what I was thinking: As long as the general overview is there, we can have several links to our main News pages.
The main point in this case is to just have ourselves featured in as many different spots as possible.

Fair point about Wikipedia, but it's the Wikia page I was mainly concerned about. Essentially we'd have two wikis to maintain, when you consider the one built into this site.
True enough, a Wikia page would attract more attention, but that means it needs to look the part and have some interesting and useful content.
If people can manage all that, then that's great of course.

Well, we DO need to have a proper "public relations" team, don't we? And I don't mean modders/developers part-timing on that job.
We'd need actual dedicated people to do that. Then we'd have a semi-continuous updating going on, attracting more people,
while in the meantime we've got the developers actually developing rather than splitting their time and efforts.

I believe that we should request a Hearts of Oak wikia for the future, and make a wikipedia page so the people gets knowledge of the game
