Game Promotion: Laying the Foundation

All one needs to do is go back and read the threads starting about last August to debunk that idea. There was even a poll taken about what to name it.

My only concern is that he might actually think we stole his entire game concept along with the name... that could be awkward. :unsure
Perhaps. But it that is perfectly untrue. Not to mention that we do intend to add a whole lot more in addition, such as actually having a player CHARACTER, pirate stuff and shore adventures.

I am not sure if I am posting in a right place, 1 way to advertise is to create a banner and give a link to it so people can post it in their signature on other forums. (like my signature )
since the link can be updated as the project improve other know what's going on.

edit: Oh sorry If it was suggested before

Looks like they've been discussing us on SubSim:

Not sure why they're claiming we are opponents of Naval Action though. Even going as far as suggesting @Captain Murphy will be hired to join their team.

Well, who knows what will happen. Either way, I just hope that somehow one GOOD game does end up happening.
(Preferably Hearts of Oak, of course. Since it's free. And made by fans. And will be EXACTLY what we want because WE made it. :wp )

I think it's kinda funny lol. Ohwell we'll just have to show'em the error of their assumptions mates!

Well, at least the guy saying we're inferior is nearly inarticulate. They usually are...

I like how he was the new guy who just randomly jumped in lol. tells me noone was taking him seriously lol specially since the conversation died the secnd he jumped in lol

But at the same time that game is an MMO... we are not. I'll prolly give it a go myself, but HoO is home for me now lol

They'll run into serious downfalls with the MMO aspect of the game if they want any open-world stuff and realistic sailing. Two words: Time Compression. You just can't do it in multiplaayer.

And speaking of the other games out there... that gae XVII Century or whatever it is. Uses the Unity Engine... is the Unity Engine even capable of buildng a game like this? I thought that was one reason we scratched it off our list.

Think of it this way... If they fail, we won't have to worry about dealing with a game with the same subject and name as ours.

That thread just got added to my list of stuff to read when I need a laugh!

We never tried the Unity engine, because of monetary constraints.
Perhaps it could deliver on a game like ours. It just won't be cheap.

I am half heartedly thinking of making an account there just to post a confused smiley face in the thread under my name.
Actually, making some account there and just clarifying on our game vs. Naval Action might be worth it.
Perhaps we could get some more fans in doing so. After all, an online multiplayer game just isn't the same as an offline singleplayer one.

This would be useful. It seems a few people over there are won over by Naval Actions' eye candy (which is fair enough), but it's worth reminding them that HoO will look just as good. :wp
