Mod Release Gentelmen of Fortune! v1.2 Full Release Patch 1.0 FAQ/Bugs/Installing

Yeah, I'm used to the feeling. Guess I can uninstall and reinstall the game and then the mod. Maybe then I can play as Peter Blood correctly. I like playing as him because the storyline of Peter Blood iirc is based on the events of a fictional pirate character in a book based in historical things for authenticity. :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Blood_(novel)

I might try a different storyline if I can't get Ole Peter up and going. :3 Though I can now do the intro for Peter Blood with one arm tied behind my back practically.

Whichever one you like best! :doff

Methinks GOF2 is based on GOF 1.2. That is the one I'm playing now.:bird:

I have said it many times but those posts are perhaps lost to the depths now. So where to begin, GOF 2 started off been a way to give the fans of COAS and GOF a stable version to play on while we waited for MK to release his Era's mod with that no longer available GOF 2 is the latest GOF mod around and sadly for many the Era's mod that was released was to buggy and they returned to GOF 1.2 or GOF 2 in the hope that Era's would be fixed soon and maybe MK will one day release Era's again but that is something I can't say for sure and something I don't wish to get in as its also something I no little about. So while we waited for Era's to be released I went back to GOF 1.1 and removed all the ships leaving only the stock COAS ships in place and slowly began porting in the ships that we have now. More ships equalled stability problems and by removing many of those ships stability was improved as was uniqueness for the ships that did make it and it added a little more realism because big ships like MOW's wasn't seen often in the Caribbean. To keep the game fun though and not to realistic it was obvious some large ships would need to be included, but I wanted to keep them as low as I could to keep the idea of all ships having a unique feel to them while also contributing something to the mod other than been just another ship in the game.

As things began to progress features from GOF 1.2 was ported in and some things was changed to improve the way they worked like realistic costs changed as was the more recent RTBL settings, even some mod switches was added to give the players more choices for the type of game they want to play. Hylie Pistof has fixed and updated a lot of ships and continue's to do so, these things that to some might be small make a huge difference and I have great respect for him for taking the time to do this and I hope others will some day follow in his footsteps and either help out or for a team and make a great mod even if its a continuation from our own work here in GOF 1.2 or even GOF 2.

So basically the answer in short is GOF 2 is far more stabile and balanced than GOF 1.2. I say try them both and then decide which version you like the most.

Thanks for your answer, I'll try both :)

Sry for double post but after installing the 1.3 patch the enemy ship cannons shoot without reloading them, they have infinite ammo and they don't load their cannons, they just keep shooting like a machinegun until my ship gets sunk lol

Not sure if this only happenes to me.

First time its been reported for GOF 1.2, if you send me the connons_init.c file I will check it out for you.

Well, I noticed that this happenes with Peter Blood character, so I again started a new game with another character and works fine now, dunno what was the issue though.

Nevermind anyways, if I notice it again I'll send you the file, ty btw. :doff

I've a question.. But GoF mod includes new quest or only ship and pg? If includes new quest where can i find the guide for find this new quest?

Hi!

The "Patch one" link doesn't work. How can I download this patch?

Thanks!

The links on page 1 of this thread lead to pyratesahoy.com which is a dead link. The links Pieter provided do work.

Except I'm not sure if the mentioned files are there at all. A lot went missing when the old FTP died.

The first link you provided leads to MODDB and does work for this version of GOF.

The other 2 links do not have this version in them.

Hi!

Thank you, I found this patch on the first link.

Not sure what is what; AoP 2 modpack versions tends to confuse me.

That's very simpe, my mother language isn't English, and my English is very poor, I must use translation of games with many texts. This translation created of GOF 1.2, and doesn't work with 2.0.

Thank you for the link!

hey guys, great work on the mods (i've been playing the combined mod for the past week or so and it has eaten my free time :D ). is it possible to copy over my save game file from the combined mod and use it in gentleman of fortune? i installed GOF today, copied the file into the right place, but when i load the ENGINE stops working. any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not familiar with the differences between the two, but if they cause a crash, the differences are probably large.
So.... I'm afraid not.
