Hello,

Given the fact that there are various Officer slots and titles available in the game.
Would it be possible to add a Cooper, Musicians and a Cook?
Also to include Fiddles etc as items in the various stores for purchase?
I have no idea if it would be possible to add them to Taverns but it would be a
great development IMO.

I suggested for a cook before. It sure is good to have one as many ships if not all have chefs/cook before even pirates. But uhm, what's a Cooper?

What would be the purpose of those officer types though? Adding more is quite easy.
Having them actually be good for anything is a different story altogether.

Well, for the cook/chef, it should add some kind of boost to the crew's morale as they now eat a somewhat tastier kind of food everyday. And it adds to the game's reality.
I don't know 'bout the musician and the 'cooper' though.

You can already increase crew morale by food-related methods: double rum rations.
So it would sort-of double up on a feature that is already there.

Yeah..but what if, double rum rations(.5) + cook(.5) = 1. Its like you divide the calculated amount of boost getting from the double rum ration. :D
But I'm a happy pirate w/o the Cook/Chef at the moment. :dance It'll just be a future feature if ever additional officers are to be created. :):onya

Let me put it this way: I can think of just about a million things that would add a LOT more to gameplay than doubling up on a feature that is already there.
But I'm not saying it is a bad idea per se. And if somebody would care to make it happen, I'll probably include it in the modpack.

Oh and another feature that can be added for the Cook(if ever) is the food management.:D Food and Rum lasts longer.

A Cooper is a person skilled in making and maintaining barrels. Perhaps not necessary in the Mod however
DavyJacks suggestion about food management for the Cook is a great idea.
Long John Silver was the Heston Blumenthal of Pirate fiction!
Musicians would usually play prior to and during a battle and were great for morale.
I just thought that a Musicians/music feature might be possible in the Mod and the suggestions are historically accurate.
I appreciate the enormous amount of work that has been done by all involved in POTC Build Mod.

maybe I could make some other perks also officer specific. So for example a doctor can't learn long range boarding etc.
You can switch officer types freely, so how would that work?

Actually, it might be an idea to show in the F2>Character>Abilities menu which perks are NOT active for the character's current officer type.

I was thinking of using the "locked" perk indeed. I want to implement that a perk is locked. and you first need to do something to unlock the perk. For a certain officer you could then lock these perks.
I added something to the checking of the value of the perk to check already if its disabled or not, I could do this for locked also. So you could for example learn a officer the skill long range boarding, but when you change his officer type this skill is now locked for him and wont count anymore. when you change him back he will have the skill again.

DavyJack, I think that is a feature Pirate_KK has once wanted to add to the game, but never got round to.
Wouldn't be easy to accomplish at all, though. :(
Yeah. It is a lot. :facepalm But I think the capture colony MOD is even harder but still was accomplished. Hehehe:D:p:thumbs1
And yeah but I still hope that that feature will be worked on sometime in the future.:)

Well I could add some perks to the perk system which for example made better use of the food on board so you need 10% less food per day or something like that. I could add an option so the perk could only be added to someone who is a cook (that should be fairly simple in this system I've made).
And maybe if you have a musician your morale boost is higher (he got a perk for that too) when you spend a night partying in the tavern.

maybe I could make some other perks also officer specific. So for example a doctor can't learn long range boarding etc.

Thanks Levis it would be great to see a cook and musician featured in the game.

Any sugestions of the perk names and what they exactly do?

Any sugestions of the perk names and what they exactly do?

How about for Cooks: Bottle Washer/Apprentice Cook/Cook/Master Cook and subsequent % boosts in Morale and Food / Rum Consumption.

Likewise for Musicians: Drummer/Trumpeter/Bagpipe player/Fiddler/Composer % boosts in Morale and recruitment.

Plus Trading perks for both and boarding perks for Musicians

I have been thinking about this possible new ability some days. Finally i got it :)

The new ability what i thought was... "Scream of war"

This ability allows you, when you are in battle with enemy ships, you can select an enemy ship, with the menu of "using ability" (Like instant boarding or quick repairs), and when you execute this ability to the ship, your ship will make a furious and evil scream to the ship (Intended to weak enemy morale's crew), which has these effects:

  1. The morale of the enemy ship drops down to a very low level (For example, from good to awful, or normal to treacherous)
  2. There is a 20% of probability that the enemy ship got surrended (Turn to white flag) (I hope this could be possible)
  3. When you try to board it, there's an increase of 5% of meeting directly the enemy captain in the first deck.
  4. When you try to board it, there's an increase of 15% of meeting the enemy captain on the cabin after clearing the first deck.
  5. Your crew morale increases up to 100%
The effect of the ability finishes having passed three minutes (Real time). It can only be used ONCE per battle. This ability only works for ships of your tier and below (For example, a tier 4 ship can only use this ability against tier 4 to 8 ships)

For having this ability for you, there are two ways:

  • Being member of the pirate brotherhood and having a rank of 5. Also you need to be at least level 30.
  • Be promoted on any other nation to a rank of 10. Also you need to be at least level 50.
The reason why the second way is harder is because this is an ability to intimidate ships, and this ability is considered to be "pirate ability". The second way is for veteran captains only.

Well, i hope you can take a moment to read this and express your opinion here ;)

Same like my idea. But mine is with the "Fame Effect". As you get more famous/notorious at sea, more sailors will be afraid of you, affecting their morale when you engage with them causing others to automatically surrender when they recognize the ship/flag.

Oh yeah! How 'bout enemy morale drop if they see a notorious/scary/mythic ship like the Flying Dutchman, Black Pearl, Queen Anne's Revenge, etc. with the same effect like above? :) Oh I hope this will come true someday. I'm here to give help the way I can if needed. :)
