Cannot Confirm Capturing Forts

WeekendWarrior

The Jester
Quest Writer
Hearts of Oak Donator
I am having problems with capturing towns, so far I only tried Speightstown, Bridgetown and Port Royale (Nope, I don't despise Englishmen, it's just sheer coincedence.) Speightstown were taken by no problem but when I try to capture Bridgetown and Port Royale, after the battle inside the forts have ended, when it's loading port of the city the game crashes.
I've finished the main storyline and almost every side quests of the ..well, the main storyline. As a quest I took Bridgetown, but after the final the game gives the city back to English. And it may be because that i've changed he name of the town when I first captured it. Or it may be a problem with the cities from the stock game, not with the build-added cities. But I gotta sail more to see it so. Anyway, just wondered if there's any chance to take them at all, or if it's only happening with me. Thanks.
Now, time for the compliments! Guys, I have so much to say, but I don't want you to let go of this hard work either. I have not been around for about a year, and haven't got the chance to introduce myself before but i'm from Turkey, and even if my profile says that i joined in at 2009, i was checking out build mod before that. I'm a big fan of Build mod, I can't even remember when. It's been so long, I even remember the time we traded slaves as cargo at stores. I don't think even you remember that! I remember the name pieter boelen (hope i spelled right, sorry pieter.) as a young man who is triyng hard to gather a team, willing to teach them programing and coding to make the ideas for this mod to come true. It's been, i don't know, 8? 10 years? Wow! My point is just look at the things he had accomplished! The team had accomplished! Thank you guys, and keep up the good work.

What version are you playing? And you know, its you that have to decide where a town will belong to after taking it. If you have able officers that you can assign as the town's governor and fort commander, you can have it for yourself, else you'll just have to decide whom you will give it to.

For the crashes, please post the .log files from your main game folder (in a ZIP).

Glad to hear you enjoy what we managed to accomplish! It wasn't me who started out with the modpack though.
They had already been going for about a year when I joined.

Build 14 Beta 3.1 full - And the problem is taking the town, not deciding whom I will give it to. I can't capture some towns.

Here's my error.log. And, yeah, it was NathanKell if I'm not mistaken, right?

I see some reputation-related errors in that .log file, but I don't see if and how that can be related.
One thing I DO know is that the line number doesn't match up with my game version;
but that is probably because the boarding file was updated for the Beta 3.2 WIP version.

Could you post also your compile.log and system.log? Just in case those can provide a clue....

Indeed it was. :yes

Oh so you're still using Beta 3.1. You don't have to zip up .log files unless its too large.
And what do you mean by "can't capture" you mean the icon doesn't show up after you've bombarded the fort when you get near it?

Dammit! Nothing useful. :(

It gets as far as executing "Abordage_Quest", which sets up the win condition for the scene continuing once all enemies are dead.
As far as I gather, there shouldn't be much more going on after that, let alone anything crash-worthy. :modding

If I recall, the forum won't let you attach .log files, but WILL allow you to attach .zip files.

Nope, i see the icon alright, it just crushes when i clean up the fort and try to get to port side of the city to fight... I don't know if I have to be .. or could be more specific than that.

Maybe Talisman could help? I've read that you finished that mod together?

I don't zip up my .log files when I'm uploading them here. Unless its too large. Its what I always do.

Oh okay now I get it. My game crashes too when I'm continuously playing the game for more than 2hours when capturing forts too. And it lasts longer if I minimize taking forts and boarding ships. The longest I have played the game continuously is for 4 hours. That is less capturing and boarding. The game has memory leaks which I think causes those crashes/ctd's after some time/stressing the game.

As far as I'm aware, the fort capturing does actually work. Does the problem always occur with the same forts?

That seems interesting but yeah, that may be it. But I guess if that's the case, then it's much more bigger problem than I thought it was, right?

Yep, but the one that's annoying me most is Bridgetown... I gotta get it back, you know :bounce

Quite odd; Bridgetown is one I tested quite extensively last year, because I had to make the Standard storyline work again.

 *sigh* Let me try again then... but, it's an odd problem, don't you guys agree? The dream of taking over the archipelago has sunk.

Its always good to have neighbors you know. :D:p

Yeah, i guess you're right. But I was gonna take only the Bridgetown for myself. Change it's name to Freetown and won't take any taxes. Then give all other cities to pirates and live happily ever after in my local tavern, drinking and gambling. Maybe have some lads with danielle, you know. Hanging out time to time with samsa while the whole archipelago has driven mad with chaos. God, i'm hopeless. :8q

Anyway, i guess it's time for me to keep my last save and say goodbye to NH Storyline. Gotta sail away to new storylines...

I've still been playing Beta 3 so as not to lose my progress so far. Which is quite extensive. So I can tell you that capturing forts, both added and original, definitely works in that version. Pieter's namesake doesn't need to worry about a Spanish attack on Turks Island any more. Partly because Saint Domingue wasn't Spanish, it was French. Partly because it isn't French any more, it's mine. And partly because so is Turks Island. :D By way of an example of an original island, my flag now also flies over Martinique, alias Falaise de Fleur.

The one minor bug I have noticed is that my colonies seem to reject my order to change their taxes. I try to be nice and set the tax rate to Low, then next time I look it's back to Normal.

So now I've done pretty well everything I want in "Tales of a Sea Hawk". Time to install a newer version and then try my luck in one of the other stories...

It's about time! :bounce When Pieter is on a roll like most of last year I started a new game weekly.:pirateraft

See?! I know I wasn't the only one making a fantasy out of the game! But sadly mine is broken... :facepalm Well, I'll do it next time, i guess. But seriously guys, you need to give much more story with Denielle after the final. (Not in THAT way, you salty sea dog!) :cheeky
