Aren't you supposed to be dead?

This game was saved under an early version of Build 3.3 WIP. You're in Friday's room, about to do the run over the roofs which ends with you in the tavern. When you get there, you meet Woodes Rogers, last seen lying dead in his study, who promptly goes into the dialogue to initiate "Woodes Rogers Quest" all over again. Fortunately this didn't stop me from completing the ongoing quest.

Attempting to re-do the quest didn't get very far because Caroline K is no longer in the Nevis brothel.

Did you start from any of the jumpstart alternatives (storyteller)?
If so which one?
 
Cheatmode on gives a "storyteller" which is a character (just a head in this quest)
who via dialog can teleport you directly to different parts of the story. The storyteller
is in one of the first locations.

So you can't have used that. Guess I have to play through it all to find those bugs then...

Where exactly did WR show up in the tavern? At the balcony seen from inside or
at the balcony on the outside or..?
 
There are two ways out of the tavern. You can go out via the balcony, in which case Woodes Rogers appears on the balcony outside. Or you can go downstairs and out through the front door, in which case Woodes Rogers appears on the ground next to you, if I remember correctly. Either way, he gives the briefing for his original quest which then re-opens in your quest book, then you can walk around until you find the right spot for Defoe to talk to you and proceed with the current quest. (If you left the tavern via the upstairs window to the balcony, when Woodes Rogers has finished talking you drop down to ground level.)
 
Shame he has to die. Seems like a nice guy. :cheeky
He's supposed to die, betrayed by his own crew. The problem is that he doesn't stay dead. Or at least, didn't, if Jack Rackham's fix works and is made available. :D

The real problem is that when both Woodes Rogers and his quest are resurrected, you can't redo the quest because other people don't co-operate - we need some way to kidnap Caroline K and sell her back to the brothel so that we can rescue her again and progress the quest re-run. xD (I was actually hoping to re-run the rescue, at least, to test out the fix for Mistress. Otherwise I'd have to restart the whole story again after installing the current version of Beta 3.3, but when I've installed that I'm starting a different story...)

You know of the ENABLE_CHEATMODE quick start options, right? That allows you to skip ahead in the story for testing purposes.
 
I've heard of the existence of such a thing, but don't know how to use it. Besides, I wouldn't know what side effects might be caused by skipping ahead like that rather than getting to the relevant part properly.
