Need Help Age of Pirates: Caribbean tales crashing my computer

I dunno if this is right topic, but everytime i try to install this game. I have done it 2 times now. My computer just crashes when i have finished install the game. Do some other have the same problem and know what to do to fix the problem?

Crashes as part of the installation process? Or after starting the game?
Do you have to reboot to get it to work at all? Please provide more information.

Yeah it crashes in the part of the installation process. My norton warns me about a virus or something and then it happening. So i have to reboot my computer to factory standard

This could be because of the copy protection that was shipped with AOP Caribbean Tales

It is called Starforce ( if I remember correctly ) and caused a lot of problems.

Suggest you search the forums for advice - there were a lot of posts about it a couple of years ago.

Or try Googling - Starforce - and see if you can find an answer.

Sorry this is not much help, but Starforce may not work with newer OS - and the game itself is now so old it may have problems working with new OS as well.

PotC is older and works fine up to Windows 8 at least. Depends more on hardware.

Also - make sure you are not installing the game in the Program folder - install it somewhere else e.g. a Games folder

So you say that i have to place it in to the game folder and that may not crash my computer?

Put it pretty much anywhere EXCEPT in program files.

Is it the same problem on age of pirates 2 city of abandoned ships too? or only Age of Pirates: Caribbean tales?

This is a problem with all Akella games.

The Program Files thing is more a Microsoft issue than an Akella one.
Windows Security Stupidity (WSS) can easily prevent installers from doing their job in those folders.
Applies especially when installing modpacks.
