Tutorial Editing and Exporting Models with Maya

Did you accurately read the tutorial? Because everything you need to know is there...

After you import the object in Maya, you must create a locator, leave it in its default state, and set it as the parent of your object.
Then you select just the locator in the Persp/Outliner, go to File > Export Selection, set the options you need and export your object.

If everything goes well, you should be able to see your object in the GM Viewer.

But why do I need a locator?
And how do I add one?

The answer depends on what you're trying to do.
So what are you trying to do?

Put it in PotC, as a still-standing nothing-doing object.

Use the TOOL that I posted the link to on the previous page.
If you don't know how to use it, it so happens that somebody who does is coming to your place. ;)

I wanted to try it, this weekend but I am sick. Ugh...

Where can you download Maya? I cant find it anywhere, but I would love to make the Napoleonic French Units some proper uniforms.

Posting here because I dont know where else. Typical.

I am afriad you cant recolour a Tricon into a Shako. (or I have indeed even less of an idea about modding this game then I thought :D)
Jack Rackham knows tricks to add bits of geometry to the models, I think.
That might be an option.

Yes but only if I already have got a model of something looking like a shako. But not all models
are compatible. If you could search for a .gm model on internet I could always try.

I've not seen that issue before. Does it still do that if you restart Maya? Or if you create another new texture in the Hypershade window with Create > 2D Textures > File?

Is it only this particular model, or does this also happen if you create a new empty scene?

If that doesn't work, all I can think of is that your Maya install might be corrupted. Try re-installing it and see if that helps.

Thought about files missing during install too...Reinstalling didnt helped in diff versions...Tried (cuz i read it happens even with nevest maya) to delete all config files... Which in documents folder... Didnt helped... Deleted mostly in user/appdata folder... Didnt felt like deleting 1-2 last files that seem to be license or user info files... But when i CREATED new windows user and lauched maya there... This bug is GONE! ;o =\
Not sure why it is like that... Guess it is smthing with user configuration files... Cuz maya was remembering if i had this "file attributes" closed or open when i restart maya... Well... I guess ill just be working with maya as this "new user" ... Hope this helps smone if he encounters same problem...
