-------------------------------------------------------

I've just made this as a placeholder thread for my upcoming work converting stuff to keep everyone in the loop without needing to keep spamming skype. :D

Downloaded GM Viewer and unpacked my POTC ready to start having a stab at converting something small. Have an animation to be doing which my machine is taking 4 hours a second over :modding, but will post an update soon. :yes

Looking forward to it! Let me know on Skype if you run into any issues. ;)

The link between GM Viewer's .obj and C4D is strong, and there don't seem to be any issues whatsoever converting fiddled-with stuff back out into whatever format I wish. I havn't tried importing it and attaching the textures yet though I believe Murphy mentioned that they're getting applied in-engine anyway?

I guess my next step is to have a go at editing the existing textures and giving them some nice new maps with B2M? I think to this end, I should learn a bit more about Unity first; else I'll be making the wrong kind of maps etc...:unsure

You will need to apply the textures to the model in C4D before exporting to Unity to make sure everything looks right. Sometimes an OBJ file will import as a single mesh instead of multiple meshes, which makes applying more than one texture more difficult.

You may want to make sure there are no overlapping vertices either (merge vertices with a threshold of zero). If all seems well, I suggest exporting to FBX format without embedding the textures (import these into Unity separately) and see how it looks before enhancing the textures or adding normal maps.

Roger, will give that a try.

So just some optimization then shipping it out vanilla to make sure the engine likes it. Sounds straightforward enough!
