Santísima Trinidad (Spanish Navy Ship)

Here's what I've managed so far. I can't create a new ship model, so this is nothing more than the model for "RN_FirstRate" or "FR_FirstRate" with a Spanish dark red colour scheme, and with new stern art made from a combination of the Alicante ship and the model shown in one of the photos I posted.
She's looking pretty good there, mate! :onya

That will have to do unless someone creates a version of "FR_FirstRate" with more guns, which could represent both the Santisima Trinidad before her quarterdeck was extended to become a full fourth gun deck, and the French Océan class, both of which had more cannons than the 104 currently assigned to all "XX_FirstRate" models. In particular, Santisima Trinidad should have four stern cannons, and probably so should the Océan.
So then I think @Jack Rackham could see about potentially adding a few more cannons to that same model using the TOOL if and when he has time. :doff

It would need to be a new version of the model. The original model with 104 guns is fine for British ships. Looking through threedecks.org, Britain didn't have many ships with much over 100 guns except those captured from someone else, at least until fairly late in the Napoleonic period. Of course, as ships exchanged hands in both directions, the up-gunned version and the original 104 gun version can both have variants in the different colour schemes, but if one model is completed, I can take care of retexturing it to different national schemes.

WOW!!! I like it. :cheersWell done @Grey Roger.

It's a pity don't be able make a exclusive model to this beautiful ship but this is perfect.

If someone could explain me how, I can do it. I supouse that I need modify the FR_FirstRate file but where is it?

I mean: Take the existing model, add extra cannons using TOOL, then use that model ONLY for your Santisima Trinidad skin.
Once done, eventually someone could make further textures. But that is easier done when the modified model exists. :cheeky

Depending on what you mean by "exclusive", it may not be practical anyway. The ship will appear in random fleet encounters, with a randomly assigned Spanish name. That can be prevented by disabling encounters and buying in its entry in "Ships_init.c". In that case you won't see it at all unless you start a FreePlay game with cheat mode and pick it as a starting ship, or if you visit Vanderdecken's hidden shipyard, or if someone writes a storyline or sidequest involving the ship.

The folder "RESOURCE\MODELS\Ships\FR_FirstRate\" contains all the model files for the ship. "FR_FirstRate.gm" is the model for the hull.

Please recommend me some tool to edit this kind of file. I have found GameMonkey Script, is that right?

Yes, please.

The Commerce de Marseille, one of the Océan class, had 32, 34 and 34 guns on the lower, mid and upper gun decks respectively. The Santisima Trinidad as originally built had 30, 32 and 32. Whichever layout you pick, could you add two more guns to the stern? Both ships had four stern cannons, while "FR_FirstRate", being based on HMS Victory, only has two.

Meanwhile, "RN_FirstRate" has a British royal coat of arms as a figurehead, while "FR_FirstRate" has a tricolour. Can't have those on the Spanish version, can we? :D

And this is a salvo on its way out:

This is going into the next post-7th January update zip. If @Jack Rackham is kind enough to make an upgunned version, it will go into the next next update.

Indeed not! :onya

But is it just me, or does that coat of arms look decidedly brighter than everything else on the ship?

The coat of arms is rather bright, yes. So are those on other ships - take a look at "FR_FirstRate" and "US_FirstRate".

Alright then; couldn't remember. If you're happy with it, then I'm happy with it. ;)

I can't cut a hole in the stern so I'm not sure if I can make it look good. Two closed portholes?
Something is very wrong with my internet so I'm able to connect just for a short time now and then.

Not just the stern - additional gun ports would also need to be added to the sides to give accurate armament for either the Océan class or the Santisima Trinidad. If that is impractical then we can leave "FR_FirstRate" and "SP_FirstRate" as they are.

@Grey Roger, just to give you an idea of what the TOOL can and can't do:
Basically, it is possible to add extra geometry with it, but not remove anything that is already there.
