Need Help GM Viewer and TOOL

Talisman

Smuggler
Storm Modder
:ahoy

Has anyone managed to get GM Viewer and the TOOL programs to work in an Operating System other than Windows XP

If yes - which OS

I have
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 10

on various computers - but the XP machine is becoming unreliable with age & I have only ever managed to get GM Viewer & TOOL to Work on Windows XP.

Thanks

@Talisman, I can confirm both GM Viewer and TOOL work fine for me on Windows 10, with the same issue Pieter mentioned for character textures.

However, you might want to try the new Animation View program that @Korolev gave us recently. That does show character textures and can preview animations.
I've uploaded it to the FTP and added a link to the top of this thread.

Thanks everyone. :onya

I am really most interested in GM Viewer - and would really need it to show the textures ( the grey outline is not much use to me)

I will have a look at the new Animation View program that @Armada mentioned and see if that works as a replacement.

The TOOL can show character textures if you point it to a directory with all character textures converted to .tga files.
Looking forward to the new Animation View.

Unrelated to this most recent TXConverter question, but relevant to TOOL. I recently discovered TOOL won't save/update files that were opened from a USB external drive. However, if the files are moved to a local drive (e.g. C:\) and opened from there, it will work to save changes. Just a tidbit I thought I would share.

I suppose it could be different/specific to a particular OS...I've not experimented or used it with many other OS flavors. I was using Win7 when it would not save files opened from my USB drive.

Hmmm, to further add speculation...perhaps even the particular USB drive/drivers itself? Maybe USB 3 is the problem? Who knows? In any case, if you have this same problem, try a local file.

I know sometimes certain GM files corrupt through the TOOL.
We used to have someone in the community for whom they didn't, which we made good use of to make the Different Flags mod work.
So you are definitely right that it must be related to some sort of hardware. :yes
