Models and Textures

Hi all,

I have experimented with adding my own characters but I've run into a problem when it comes to modifying textures.

TxConverter works fine and I can modify everything in Photoshop, but the new texture won't be associated with the old model.

An example: I've been working with the Azzy model (I've created the new character - HeroDescribe is taken care of) and I've modified the texture (changed the coat to red). But when I go into GM view, it associates my new character with the old one's texture (default black coat). How do I get it to recognize the "new" texture, while also keeping the default one for the NPC?

You need to HEX-edit the GM file to point to the new texture.
I can't seem to find a tutorial in a hurry though. @Hylie Pistof, would you be able to explain this?

1) give the new model a new name
2) give the new texture a 4- letter long name as "azzy" = 4 letters long
3) HEX editor: open your new model and overwrite azzy with your textures new name. Save.

Any idea how the change the model of Jack Aubrey to Norrington?
I gained expensive cuirass but it doesn't look fine with Aubrey.

The main problem is a fact there're two seperate folders called "RESOURCE/MODELS" and "RESOURCE/TEXUTRES".
That makes I have no idea if I should change something in both or not. The thing I would like to change is just textures.

Now, if I want to change textures of Aubrey to Norrington what should I do?
Copying and renaming are the simpliest ways but there's one thing - what files are responsible for those personas?

Jack.gm or maybe LuckyJack?
And what about Norrington because there's a few files with similar name.

Have you used the GM Viewer yet? If not, that will probably help you a lot.

If you want to change what the textures look like, you have to edit them in the Textures folder using the TX Converter.
If you want to make an existing model use a different texture, you have to HEX-Edit the GM file in the Models folder.
If you want to swap existing models around, you could just swap the filenames around.
It all depends on what exactly you want to do.

Is armour handled in AoP the way it is in PoTC? That is, if a model is to display armour then there are several copies of the model with different types of armour?
I gained expensive cuirass but it doesn't look fine with Aubrey.
Is that because Aubrey looks odd with armour, or because Aubrey has different armour from Norrington which does not look as good?
