Fix in Progress CTD on Low End XP PC

OK tried the revised leveling, I got crashes on trying to go to the shore after skipping tutorial 3 times (XP1,XP3 and XP4) which seem all at the same place in perk allocation. The other XP attempt crashed before loading. The win10 loaded to dock OK where I saved the log for comparison. These were all from a jan 2017 - july zip vrsion on a usb drive so should be exactly comparable. Hope it helps!

SOLVED???:shrug

Whiskey - Tango - Foxtrot ! I hate my live.:boom:
First, sorry for the delay. They towed away a correct parked car with a Dealer's Number plate, wont get that back till Monday.:sick
Then I have apologise for wasting your time and disturbing your forum with my insanity. :bounce:sparrow

I have read your post in-between and started a Ram Test and Check disk; Ram is fine, Check disk does not reboot after executing!!!!:whipa

So, if that is enough to release you from this thread - I thank you for your help - really, fine people here.
I must say I am still quite good with playing the 3.4 :thumbs1 ( @pedrwyth mentioned he has 3.5? much change? ).

Still … wondering … in Test mode …Process Explorer & Steam running… Hmmm:type1

Pirates of the Caribbean / New Horizons 3.4
CPU: 25% Ram: 0.977Gb

Age of Pirates Caribbean Tales / Vanilla
CPU: 25% Ram: 0.860Gb

TES5 Skyrim & ENB Injector / Many Stuff, really, much HD textures but not overloaded! In Vanilla I could not play on high settings! Today, Hell is that smooth! And the fires…
CPU: 52% Ram: 1.9Gb

Fallout New Vegas & ENB Injector / at the edge, Quested Companions (5+2dogs+a Robot) & Player home, many more... and nearly forgot how beautiful realistic Wasteland Flora Overhaul is!
CPU: 34% Ram: 2.3Gb

FarCry3 / Ziggy's Mod some how a collection like yours, general game overhaul with fixes, mods and stuff to enjoy a free play as you like. Well, it's mainly shooting Villain's and getting killed by a Tiger or Croc you haven't seen.
CPU: loading 89%, in Game: 56% Ram: 1.7Gb

Silent Hunter 4 / Vanilla
CPU: 32% Ram: 1.4Gb

Rage / Vanilla
CPU: 63% Ram: 1.4Gb

So now, grateful for your help and appreciative if you want to close this for now, why does non of them bother me with a maaybee broken section of my 1000GB HD? You are still on this right?

P.S.: Wrote this offline, now I see you are still on it.:bow:bow:bow

sorry removed this post - thought I had made some progress but not as good as I thought

Please download this Leveling.c file and replace it with your current one.
I think @Pieter Boelen and other will be very happy with this one.

I've become a better programmer again in the last few months and took a look at my code again. Found some weird things in it and now streamlined it even more. At the moment I can do all of the leveling stuff without the need of postinit. So in this file it's disabled. Please let me know how your loading times are because the computer I use to test might be a bit overkill for this game ;).
Did anyone confirm yet how the game works with this file in place?

@Grey Roger, what would be needed for you to consider adding it into the game?

Reports from people with low end PC's saying that the game didn't work before and does now, or failing that, reports from at least three people saying that it still works as well as it did before. And a complete lack of reports saying that it broke something.

I have changed some hardware and most important - my OS (win7/64) this week! Still updating (MS; new OS &+ 1000updates) and installing, but New Horizons 4.1 is now working like a charm!!!!:aar

I just had a look to inform you all and say thank you for your help. Although i started this, its now somehow obsolete for me.

A great comunity you have here and when im bored of all the (for me) new 64bit stuff, i have your mod (and TES5, of course):cheers

Stay in touch,
bye Pirates

Since this is a general performance thing, I reckon the focus doesn't need to be on only those people for whom the game did not run before.

Three people saying it is OK sounds sensible. Where could we find three people willing to try, though?
Maybe yourself, @ANSEL, @DeathDaisy and/or @pedrwyth could install it and see what happens?

Sure no problem:onya I'll try it out when I get to my gaming computer again in the weekend:type1

@ANSEL: Do you still have the original version of "Leveling.c"? If not, I can upload it here.

And a complete lack of reports saying that it broke something.
Apparently it broke something. That's enough to prevent me from putting this version of "Leveling.c" into any update archive.

I can't save the game with that file installed!:shrug
Yikes!

Can you not save at all? Can you save when you start a new game?
Can you save after staying in the same location for a while?

What happens when you try to save?
Is the button greyed out? Or do you get corrupt save? Or do you not get a safe at all?

see post #61 for my install on a low end machine - in summary it didn't help the issue. However @Levis thought it was improved so it might be worth looking at where it is broke but I am travelling so not in a position to do that - I already broke my laptop for POTC/AOP games so it will have to wait for me until at least mid December.

Yes I still have the original one, but thanks anyway :)

I can not save at all, I will have a total crash down. I can't save after staying in the same location for a while.
About starting a new game and saving I haven't tried it out, I will look into it now.

it defently fixes some bugs.
The post-init is disabled in this one but can easily be reenabled by setting the post init values back to what they where in the original leveling.c and one commented line should be uncommented (don't remember if I did this or not, but it should stick out, it is the one which starts the post init).
