Anyone still play this game?

El Vlado

Since I have enjoyed New Horizons so much I wanted to try this game out, it looks pretty cool :) I have also heard it has a fantastic roleplaying community, and after reading the game's forums it has been confirmed. Any pirate/period style game really fancies my interest, and I love the era :)

The reason I'm asking this question is because of the quite old threads that exist in this part of the forum.

Thus I was wondering how many people in the Pirates Ahoy! community still play this game? I cannot yet register and have been unable to for months (due to the changing of hands from SOE to Portalus Games), but have been looking forward to playing. It would be marvellous to know who is still playing and what kind of guild/fleet they are in, and nation they are playing for :cheers I'm interested in becoming in the British navy perhaps, or be a pirate, however being part of a nation (like it has in PoTC and other games) is what I would like to be part of.

I'm really looking forward to roleplaying as well, something that I passionately enjoy. I am hoping to spend time in the game roleplaying a character as well as playing the game for what it is :) Looking forward to seeing who still plays this game and join up in having fun!!

you could count me as max lvl player but i cant remember anything about it cause i hit 50 a year a go and the char was perfect but i had to format my laptop and i hate to waste time to re-download 7GB :D so i that was the end of it for me :D but i am downloading it again :D almost done with it :D

I saved my Character but I stopped playing it for a while. Loved the Quests & PVE but I was bored at lvl 50.. :(
I miss my monkey, my first rate & the fishing.. ^_^ Was a good time, now I'm waiting for a new Pirate MMORPG or more great content. :)

I haven't played for about 4 years and was only about mid 20s freetrader. Really liked all the different ships and building them to sell. Just edownloaded it a couple of days ago and started over. On Antigua as a French freetrader. Having fun so far.

I started PotBS today, after a break of a few months. What happened there? Only two servers left? Will the game survive or will it be shut during the next weeks/months?

Oh - and btw. Could anyone please explain the economy in this game? A few months ago, I created a merchant char, built some buildings and started to produces some wares, but when I wanted to sell them, I realized, that I would get less dublons, than I used for producing the wares....

Sorry to re-awaken a seemingly old thread, but I was wondering if anyone here does still play PotBS?

I used to play the game when it was under Flying Labs /SOE and was part of a British group called The Royal Secret Society. I managed to get to the old max level as a Naval Officer, even had two other characters on the go, a Privateer and Freetrader and I took part in Port Battles, PvP, daily mission grinds, helping newbies with their missions, flipping ports, crafting, hauling etc...

Unfortunately back then I ended up in exam season and when I came out I got back into EVE Online, a game which leaves no time for anything else.

I recently looked into getting back into PotBS, but realised that my old server had been closed and that my old account has now gone :(

If PotBS worth getting back into as a newbie once again and working my way back up?

Any societies with the British looking to recruit old rusty veterans?

Yeah - I pop in every now and then as well. All though the game was ultimately ruined by SOE, it has never really recovered under Portalus Games either.

I have 4 lvl 50 Brits on Roberts and 2 lvl 50 Rats (Pirates) on Antigua

Just FYI, the top soc officer of TRSS is still playing with us today, however no longer as a Brit. He's Three Dogs (Rat) on Antigua and is planning on rerolling French on Roberts.

As for Brit socs, St George Squadron is the biggest all-round one on Tiggy. Not sure about Roberts.

I was flying the colours of the original RSS (Royal Secret Service) - which later on became HMS (Her Majesty's Servants). I don't know if that is associated with the TRSS of Antigua though.

I am still part of HMS, all though very much inactive, along with most others.
Our society leader (kitt) still plays actively on Antigua I believe.

I have to be absolutely honest it has been a long time and I forget if "the" was part of the title or not, but the more I think about it I'm fairly convinced it was just RSS.

The name Kitt certainly rings a bell that's for sure. My Naval Officer's name was Captain Jacob Elston.

I remember there being a Dutch chap by the name of Levi Orde around at the same time I played.

Here is an RSS flag I still have saved on my PC:

Ah! I remember you!

And Levi was not Dutch, but Danish I played allot with him. Me and Levi formed a small squad of small/medium ships where we used "wolf pack" tactics to bring down larger ships in PvP. And also functioned as a disruptive skirmish group when our ports were attempted "flipped".
Levi was a fun and knowledgeable man with the temper of a Viking! :dance:cheers

I was (and still am) a soc officer in RSS/HMS. My main Character was a female Privateer called Caitlin Flannery - which in fact was the first ever character I used my now common name on most forums on - namely "Flannery":aar:pirates

Those were fun times :drunk
