S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

Anyone else here playing it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I haven't played it, but it sounds like a game that came out back in 1997 called <i><!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->Fallout<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--></i>. That was set in a post nuclear holocaust world.

The theme is similar I think, but STALKER is a first person shooter with large elements of role-playing... I love it at the moment, although as a first person shooter alone it cannot be compared to Far Cry, for example (the reason I mention it is that I just started playing FC again).

I urge everyone to try it, if their computer can handle it... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> The game has serious optimalization issues - on my system (3ghz P4, 1gb RAM, radeon x800pro), it looks like a game from 2002... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Not a bad game if i may say so <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> as Rico said, serious optimization problems, it seems to play better after the first 5 mins after you load a game/start a new one. Its very realistic(too realistic if you ask me), so forget to go run and shoot like in most modern FPS. Artifacts are a nice feature in the game, i personaly can't get the games with "bio upgrades" so another + for STALKER.

PS. Do you know that it may turn out STALKER uses stolen assets from Half Life2 and Doom3 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I have.Good for shooting , sniper targeting and St.Valentine massacres, get my bloodthirsty at accepting levels. If you need to do a massacre or two for calm yourself, get a SMG and ammos, then shoot at every bandits gang you stumble across. You will feel in peace with the entire world, smiling nicely like a stoned hippie at his 2nd joint, and, of course, saving the money for the psichiatric help....

Also good for repeat the best scenes of"Day of the Jackal" from LeCarre's book. You never killDeGaulle,but shooting in sniper way to a far unaware target its very relaxing.

Lol I have a huge STALKER collection. I even have the official board game in Russian. It's my favourite item in my collection. One of the best game franchises ever made.

Awesome game, I played SoC few times as it has multiple endings. Also, there's prequel to it called Clear Sky, played it too, and it's not that good. Also, sequel of it is called Call of Pripyat, and I loved it. Story is not like in SoC, but it's still very good game! I wish they made STALKER 2, but it was cancelled few years ago...

The only S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which wasn't that good in my book was Clear Sky, but other than that I loved both Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat however I find the latter to be the best of the series. I don't so much as mind that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was canceled because I remember an article about one of the developers saying that they would make the game "always online".

One time I talked of the games to a friend of mine he told me "I heard that's not much different from Fallout" and dismissed it, I mean there's a lot of differences between both game series, I have equally enjoyed them both.
