Hello! Hope I can help.

Hello everyone,
I've been following the development of Hearts Of Oak quite closely since I've discovered about it while looking for AoP II mods, which would be, a couple of months ago.
I have very little experience with Unity, but I am a web programmer and designer, and I'd love to give a helping hand with some of the work that there is to do, namely:
- Concept artwork (especially for GUI)
- Scripting/Programming (will look into what ever Unity uses, shouldn't take long to pick it up, since I've used a few OOP languages)
- Testing (Of course, I guess that's what everyone would like to help with :wp)
- Translations in Italian
- One more head to give tips/ideas involving other parts of the development

If you need any of the above, I'll be glad to help!
If not, I still hope you guys will make the greatest Age of Sails game ever; it will be much welcome, since AoP shows its age and limits.

Keep up the great job!

Daniele

Ahoy Daniele, welcome aboard mate!

As far as I know, currently there is no one working on the GUI. We do have a couple of concepts of what we are aiming for, though certainly nothing is set at the moment. You can have a look at those concepts HERE, if you haven't seen them yet.

If you have any samples of your work you could post, that would be awesome! @Captain Murphy should be along shortly, if your interested in helping with programming, he would be the man to talk to!

Your help would certainly be welcome! Especially work on interfaces sounds interesting indeed. :yes

Thank you guys!
I have been working mostly on web interfaces, so I can give some examples, but I'm not sure they would be useful :) I will have a look at the existing concepts, they do look interesting.

Welcome! Actually, web interfaces are very similar to how Unity 4.6 GUI works. Don't waste any time looking into pre 4.6 UI since the system completely changes at that point. The new system uses something that is similar to using slices of images (ala buttons) and CSS to build a UI 'skin' that can be applied. Each control can be skinned separately and again, very similar to how CSS works in terms of the spacing, padding, image background, etc.

We do need some help building UI components and laying out some of the menu systems as well so it wouldn't all be pixel counts and offsets! My skype info is on my profile page and I hope to hear from you soon.

It's great to hear that, actually. I will download the latest Unity version and see how the GUI builder works. Will contact you on Skype ASAP.
