I really thought this one might at least do something! :modding

I am sure you are not the only one having problems mate. I will keep looking until we find something that works for you!

There is a solution somewhere. Did you try all these things while being logged in as Administrator? Or just choose "Run as Administrator"? I really despise the way Microsoft set up Windows Administrator accounts, it is really quite frustrating.

Hi, I have the same problem. My laptop also has an intel HD graphics as well as separate nvidia 840M chip. Seems like the game recognizes only the "primary display driver", which is in this case an intel HD. Turning off intel HD in device manager does not work , because if you do that you practically lose all your video output completely, it just works that way ( see this https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/705362/hot-to-make-my-nvidia-the-default-card-/?offset=3). Setting the engine.exe to run with nvidia chip in nvidia control panel has no effect as the game seems to use an intel, no matter. I checked this by installing an intel fix, and running the game, which did work. The only solution that comes to my mind is that somehow you find out where does the config.exe gets the info about the display adapter, so you can change it to whatever you want. I have tried the engine.ini but there seems to be no line about the device used.

Config.exe really doesn't do much of anything except store settings in the engine.ini, your better off editing it manually. When the game starts, it automatically chooses the hardware that is set as default in Windows. The more I look in to this, the more I am convinced that this is either a driver issue, or just plane bad hardware design. Have either of you tried contacting your laptop manufacturers over this issue? I am sure they must be aware that there is an issue, this is certainly not the only game experiencing it.

Both game and hardware manufacturers have made it very clear that they don't want to support older games like this. Most of them don't like supporting new games, let alone games that are over a decade old. They want you playing games that take advantage of their "state of the art" technology. From a business standpoint, I can certainly understand that way of thinking, but it really sucks for gamers who just want to play games they enjoy. As powerful as today’s systems are, they should easily be able to emulate the older hardware that these games were designed for.

I will keep looking, but I am really not optimistic on finding a solution. Because of design limitations like this, certain laptops are just not the best gaming platforms.

Seems like this is an issue with the 8xx nVidia Cards, as I with my GT635M have no problems at all:shrug

I have has the same issues with my Toshiba Laptop - Intel HD 4600 and NVIDIA GeForce 770M. POTC only uses the Intel graphics which was OK last year until Intel did a driver update for windows 10. (Nov 2015). This driver update does not work for POTC at all - even with the Fix. so I did a roll back of the driver to July 2015 and all works OK.
