If your intrested in checking out Windward I've started a mini series on my YouTube channel. The first couple videos are early game stuff but soon I'll be posting some combat stuff.

Thanks for the video mate, looks interesting! I am a bit disappointed that there appears to be no boarding or capturing ships. :shrug

They do have a ship capture quest, which involves you shooting a pirate to low health and simply sailing next to him. Then he becomes a member of your faction and goes off to fight against his former allies. I'm hoping they add more over time.

I've been playing this like mad lately, turns out it can handle my crappy connection pretty good so most of my time logged is in multi.

So far my only dislike would be the "secret" last vessel, the blimp. It's fine in solo play, but allowing it online seems a little goofy. Four guys running those can steamroll an entire server map in a couple hours from what I've seen, and apart from two servers most of the active ones have under ten people on them...so you're hooped until the map reset.

But...the WindyIsles server in the UK is almost always loaded with decent folks, who're fine helping noobs like myself. If you're on an opposing team, they'll help you level up and switch sides so you've got humans to play with instead of AI ships.

I didn't particularly like this game. Its not really open world, in that everything is leveled to you. You finally got that nice frigate? Well now all your enemies are in Galleons, and they spawn like crazy. Its also not a dynamic LIVING world, the factions don't really fight each other, just pirates. Even Assassins Creed 4 had the British and Spanish fighting here and there, really making it feel alive. Windward doesn't have this. Also, most of the maps are fairly small, which little outside of the main settlements.

Its a good action rpg, but that's all it is. I was sincerely hoping for a game similar to Pirates! but procedurally generated.
