Install stock game and mod at same time?

Question's in the title really, can I have the vanilla game installed on my pc and play with that as well as having the mod installed and playing with that?

So long as they're in two different locations, of course! :) Just install stock (preferably somewhere easy to find ie desktop), copy, then point NH to the copied version and move both to wherever you wish!

Yes, you can have multiple installations of the game at the same time. They just need to be in different folders. Personally I have both Build Mod and stock installations in different sub-folders of my "C:\Games" folder. When I want to create a new Build Mod installation, typically if the current one has some savegames which I don't want to lose but I also want to try out the latest version, then I copy the stock installation to yet another sub-folder, then install Build Mod onto that - much quicker than installing from CD!

This Saturday I installed PotC to test the vanilla in this notebook I'm using, applied the Intel graphics fix, the compatibility fix and Pieter's suggestion to run at windowed mode with the screen's resolution and it worked just fine. Then I traveled, came back today and tried to make a second install in order to try out New Horizons but the installation wizard only asks me if I want to uninstall the game. Guess I will have to uninstall, install again and do the copying and pasting.

By the way, my version of the game demands CD 1 in order to run, isn't there a way to fix it, so I don't need to get the disk out of it's case whenever I want to play the vanilla?

The CD installer probably notices you have the game already installed. But you can make a copy of the main game folder manually.

Copying ENGINE.EXE from the mod also puts an end to the questions for the CDs.

So, I copy the mod's engine.exe, paste it into my vanilla folder and delete the original engine.exe, in order to run without the CD?
