been having a few teething problems getting the game going.

Text is missing from menu headings and from converations - I can see my answers, but what people say to me is invisible, making doing any mission imposible.

any ideas?

It may be related to either Starforce or an incorrect NoDVD patch - see my reply in your <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10563" target="_blank">runtime error</a> thread.

Also, make sure you have the most recent driver for your graphics card. You can get that from nVidia's website. Don't rely on any driver which may have been supplied on a CD with the card!

arr! the new graphics drivers from the nvidia site seem to have done the trick. grey roger you are a flippin genius. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

for anyone who is interested, I installed the game, then got rid of the starforce thingy. then installed the no dvd patch (v1.41) then installed the mod and all the updates, then istalled the latest nvidia drivers. the game works a treat (so far).

I also made an interesting discovery - I tried the game on another machine running windows vista. starforce doesnt work with vista at all, so if you want to run any games that use it, you have to have a patch.

Thanks, but that's just the usual recommendation for many game problems - make sure you have the latest sound and video drivers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate_plain.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p3" border="0" alt="pirate_plain.gif" />

Installing the NoDVD patch was unnecessary since Supermod includes one. You only need a NoDVD patch if you're going to use the official version 1.50 patch. (Or if you plan to be a masochist and run plain version 1.41. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />)
