UPDATE

The two movies "Captain Blood" and "Sea Hawk" are not budging. There is only 4 months between July and December, so maybe they are waiting to release for Christmas? No sight of "The Black Swan".
I did notice that there is a movie called "The Pirate of Tortuga" made in 1961. It had a average rating of 3 out of 5 stars. Anyone know the movie? Is there any other old Pirate movies not mentioned earlier in this thread that is good?

I have "Pirates of Tortuga." I thought it was an ok movie. Stars Ken Scott and Rafer Johnson. Other movies you might like are "A High Wind In Jamaica" starring James Coburn and Anthony Quinn and the two DVD "Pirates" containing four feature films called Mutiny, Beneath the `12-Mile` Reef, Captain Kidd (previously mentioned) and the Legend of Sea Wolf. Nice to have in your pirate movie collection. Purchased all of the above at the Best Buy web site.

I just finished reading "Captain Blood" this weekend, sure it does have the potential for a great movie. It would be a nice thing if a new version would be made, what with all the effects being possile today. But to have the original of ´35 out on DVD would be a good start, if it´s up to the book, that is.

To my recollection the movie "Captain Blood" follows the book pretty closely, and it's a lot of fun as well.

The movie verson of the "Sea Hawk" might have been a different book entirely, if I'm remembering that one correctly, but I still like that movie.

I'm pretty certain they'll make it onto DVD someday.

Maybe I´ve even seen it, now you mention it. But it´s an awfully long while ago.
I´m still missing some pirate movie with a lots of sea battles and boarding action and the like.
