Age of Pirates 2 - CMP

The difference between the cursed and uncursed Flying Dutchmans are unintentional.
ZarethPL has yet to make a movie-accurate uncursed one, so I kept our previous version for the uncursed version.
Ok well I look forward to the shiny Dutchman from the movie ;) :cheeky

Flying Dutchman (cursed)
Black Pearl (cursed)
Black Pearl (uncursed)
HMS Dauntless
HMS Endeavour
Flying Dutchman (uncursed)

Do you know how to get the sails from the Build Mod and put them on unique ships in CoAS?

If not I can let you know how to do it ;)

NOTE: Black Pearl models are the same ;) , however the sails are what makes it cursed/uncursed
NOTE2: The Flying Dutchman's used different models and sails ;)

How do you get the sails from the Build Mod and get them to work on unique ships in CoAS?

How do you get the sails from the Build Mod and get them to work on unique ships in CoAS?
It is actually really really easy :cheeky

What you do is load up: Pirates of the Caribbean/RESOURCE/Textures/Ships/Sails
COPY
- sail_BlackPearl.tga.tx [Cursed Pearl]
- sail_dutchman1.tga.tx [Turner Dutchman]
- sail_dutchman2.tga.tx [Jones Dutchman]
- sail_whole_black_patch1.tga.tx [Black Pearl]
- sail_whole_black_patch2.tga.tx [Black Pearl]

Now you paste these files in: Age of Pirates 2/RESOURCE/Textures/Ships

Now for putting them on unique ships :D
in their ships_init.c add this line
Code:
refship.EmblemedSails.normalTex = "ships\*sail wanted*.tga";
EG.
Code:
refship.EmblemedSails.normalTex = "ships\sail_dutchman2.tga";
will give that ship the Cursed Flying Dutchman's sails :D

Now this one is guessing xD: the Black Pearls sails are patched and there is two sorts of patching (hence 2 files :yes)
Try this line as well as the EmblemedSails.normalTex line :hmm
Code:
refShip.EmblemedSails.nationFileName = "sail_whole_black_patch2.tga";

Ask CapnDan; he was working on it. But he hasn't been seen here for about a month now. :facepalm

I am looking for a good Black Pearl mod with good Sailerpoint and mayby with Black Sails
and a good installation instructions, how I can add (no replaceing) the Black Pearl.

If you look at that link there is an attached picture that shows the Build Mod's CURSED Pearl in game... This was something I did for my own enjoyment however and I have lost the files (due to a computer rebuild). Craiggo however asked what ships we should port from the Build and these include:
- Black Pearl
- Cursed Pearl
- Cursed Dutchman
- Flying Dutchman

Not sure when this will be done but WILL be included in the CMP

Ok So i will wait for the finish Build Mod's and when it is ready for Downloading.

I have a Charakter Idea for the Mod.

* Jack Sparrow (I think you read it in the Forum)
* Captain Hector Barbossa
* William „Bill" Bones.
* Capt. John Flint

for Adding (no replaesinfg)

I'm working on combining the existing mods together right now. So far I've not put in anything from the CMP, but I have got the CoAS Ships, CoAS Characters, Combined Images and JA's Combined functionality mods all working together nicely.

I'm uploading the latest version of this combined mod to the CoAS FTP site now.

You can find it in the Cap'n_Drow directory in a couple of hours or so.

Hi Captain Maggee,

We've put up a big mod on the MODDB for COAS, currently it has a pile of ships from the russian mods in it (the COAS_SHIPS mod), but I'd like to see it updated with the better POTC ships, so if you have them, drop me a message with em and I'll see if i can include em.

Or anyone else who has them!

Thanks,

Jonathan A.

They're in the PotC Build Mod; you can download that and take 'em from there. :yes

how comes, some ppl really like this Flying Dutchman from the PotC movies?
i find it extremly odd, exactly what i would expect from a Disney creation,
but cant say at all i like it as a ship...

Would like to see some other unique and far more real ships of this era in game,
like the "Santissima Trinidiad", the biggest Lineship ever build.
The Santissima was a 1st Rate Ship of the Line with 120 guns (later 136), ranging from 12 lbs to 36 lbs and including mortars...
Sadly it didnt survive the battle of Trafalgar like the Vicory did
and the modern rebuild of the historic Santissima looks like crap...
So, i would really like to see a glorious rebuild in AoP2-CoAS :)

If someone knows a way to implement a model of this ship,
i would gladly help with the neccessary scripting,
but im not much of a grafic designer, so i have no clue what must be done
to convert a 3D mesh for ingame use, or even how to texture it correctly.

Links:
german Wiki (has some more details):

english Wiki (less infos):

---EDIT---

Hab noch den Link hier gefunden, ein schickes Modell der Santissima
aus einem EIC Mod: http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/14/13418/uploaded_La_Santissima_Trinidad.jpg

Looks like this thread has gone the way of the parrot on Monty Python. :wp Sad, though- as the game really needed these comprehensive fixes and mods. BTW, If any of you havn't played the Pirates of the Caribbean game, try it, and get the latest Community Mod pack as this was outstanding. It made it into a whole new game, looking and playing better. It even came with an installer that made the whole updating/mod process simple (and this pirate needs things simple:)

p.s. In order to perhaps encourage the group of modders to finish a CMP, I wonder whether a fund could be established under PayPal, that gamers could chip into. Seems that there was something like this done previously- whether for PoTC, or way back to the great old "Sea Dogs" game. I bet that quite a few people wouldn't mind compensating the modders for their expertise... :bow

I like your idea on compensation. But it would have to be managed though which would be a real headache for someone. How do you build shares for such a diverse and widespread group and for whom exactly would shares be divied and for what?

Difficult business with legalities as well I'm certain. Still a good idea nonetheless.

I for one would pay handsomely to have some of my favorite ships be made into 3d models by talented guys like Yo Ho Ho. The main reason I'm learning how to do it myself is because I see no other recourse to make my desires reality.

I am consistently inspired by what I see here and I think thats good motivation for 3d neophytes like myself to learn. I see this as part of the whole idea behind this community. It's way more than just a gamefaq-esque gameplay advice site. This thing really has some depth to it. I would hate to see that ruined with commercialism.

Linux forever brothers! YARRR!
