AoP/PotC File convertion?

I know nothing of the way AoP works. I know it uses almost the same engine as PotC uses, so the engine will accept the PotC GM files, just as PotC accepts the AoP GM files. But that is truly all I know.
 
Pieter, again thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. I'm rather looking forward to September and really am looking forward to getting some new ship models for Age of Pirates in the game.

I think it would be cool to have differant ships from differant countries.
 
....and maybe, if it's not to much to ask, put in jungles? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> , that's a bad move akella did not adding any jungles, I think that might be a good idea, but that's just me...
 
I think there are some things that need to be address for potc ships to function beyond just adjusting the models. I posted some of this in the supermod forum but here is again for a different crowd. I am trying to make a list of all places a new ship need to be referenced to be intergrating into the game.

So far there is (That I know)

Ships_init.c under ships - Ship Specs
Ships.h under ships - Total ship ref counts
utils.c under scripts - I have seen it added here to add to shipyard list but shipyard.c might be better. I just don't know.
Shipname1_walk.c under sea_ai\walk - I think this is the ship walk file for 1st person view
Shipname1.ini under ships\sailorpoints - File to place lowpoly sailors.
bortoutShipname1.tga.tx under \Textures\Ships\Shipname1 - textures for each level of hull armor. How are they referenced in a new model?

We still need to know:
Where portraits for ships are referenced.
Where the descriptions for the ships are.
How to reduce the penality for larger ships.
How is ship fame tracked?
It is possible to make a ship invulnerable (Not just raising HP) from the start so it can be part of your squad and not destoyable. (I mean since godmode doesn't affect your squad and you can't start with more tha one ship)

I was also working on making new cannons but I could find all the refs for that either.

\RESOURCE\Textures\INTERFACES\SHIPS\Shipname1.tga.tx are the portraits but not the f2 picutres. Just for the shipyard

Yeah, but its pretty sad, yet again, his jealous comrades denied him the ship proper for an Admiral and he eventually left the service after being literally dumped in... I think it was St. Petersburg? without a command.

This thread is following the same train of thought as the P&E topis and the "So who wants revised flags?" thread... this need for a Napoleonic setting is really starting to spread. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
