AOP to be released in June

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Thank you for email and sorry for my late reply.

The release of Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales was scheduled for the end of March, but we used some extra time to improve the game and to add extra features. Unfortunately, this has delayed the release, but we decided that it would be worth it if it meant getting an even better product. We are now aiming at a release in June.

With kind regards,

damn. well atleast it's nothing new :p it would be a disgrace if they didn't delay it yet again. come on. 3 years for POTC! well i'm glad i expected it.

news doesn't hurt as much as it did 5 years ago.

Looks like "aiming" is the key word. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I mean what the hell? just not long ago we heard that AoP was almost compleated!, and now we hear theres gonna be yet another 2 month delay, thats total of 3 months!!!!
what the hell are they up to at playlogic?

From Muldini Playlogic forum

We are desperately hoping to have an answer any day soon.

Please understand that we are a publisher, not a distributor, which means that we don't sell the product to the shops, and therefore do not define the actual street date of the product.

Sorry that we just cannot be more specific, a definite release requires the distribution partners to confirm the date, and that is exactly what we are waiting for at present.

Best regards
Muldini

Someone clearly needs a reality check <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
"An even better product"....She should've seen v. 0.99.

Notice that the local folks who's already had a taste of earlier versions of 'the product' are not surprised by the delay at all.

is there an english patch for the latest russian version? just in case AoP becomes another Mouse product <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

no not disney
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> tell f**k it up

edit:srry for my bad words

it's not going to disney. mainly because they have other people already make a game for their new movie. but what is going to happen is akella is going to stop making games outside of russia. if i remember correctly this is going to be it for foreign release? i just say this because it was on the main news page here....

and no there is no english patch for the new aop's if i remember this correctly as welll one of the akella makers that post here said that playlogic asked them to disable the ability to patch for the english after version 1.1? and they did...

how definate was the april release? and the one before that. and before that?

my personal view is that it will be after summer.... maybe even later..... but thats just from past experiences....

Well, I'm not going to buy AoP anymore. This has nothing to do with the delay. Its just that recently I installed a game with Starforce protection and suddenly I had trouble with my burner and some games started lagging. After the deinstall (and the remove of the drivers) everything was fine.
Besides the thing with Galactic Civilizations II is another reason. I'll never buy a game with SF again!
So if AoP will have SF (and I think it will) I'm not going to buy it, no matter if its a pirate game.

Well I guess PotC will be the most antcipated pirate game for me now.

PS: Hehe, I just read my post myself and saw that I quite often said that I won't buy it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

They have said that there will be a Starforce disabeling patch in the future.

Who's they? I hope they just scrap it. Because I won't buy or use any software with starforce. It corrupts the computer, infects it like a virus. Starforce is malware.

And the people who make it are quite unpleasant. Threatening to sue anyone who says anything bad about their software. That might work in Russia. But they don't seem to realize that acting like a thug only gets Americans pissed off. English too.

EDIT: OH!. in my anti-SF tirade, I forgot to thank the author of this thread for bringing this news to our attention. I wouldn't worry about the delay. Every two-month delay just means that many fewer bugs in the off-the-shelf product.

Playlogic of course

Oh no, my once-eager AoP anticipation has brought me heartache once again... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude--a PotC pirate sim successor with improved gameplay and graphics is exactly what I crave these days--but the delays combined with the apparent shortage of innovation and moddability are really starting to get me down.

Here's hoping for big, pleasant surprises when (if?) release day finally comes.

edit: It doesn't help that the graphics and gameplay of PotBS are looking so beautifully polished these days, while many of the little shortcomings of PotC are still visible in the AoP preview material that I've seen... Not to be a negative nellie or anything; it's just that I desperately want AoP to be a great game...
