AoP To do or not to do

The power supply my computer gets is from an outlet in the house.. unless you guys mean something else by power supply? I feel dumb, lol.
 
A powersuply is the "transformator" a the back of your PC. It places current from the net into the current needed for your PC.

Various computers has various types of power supply that differ in power output (measuerd in watts). This inside power supply of computer (smaller box with fan) is supplied from electric network in USA 110V, another 220V. This power supply transform electicity from 110V (220V) into 5V and 12V. This transformed electricity supply all computer´s components. The more modern your computer is the more power (ilectric) input usually demands. The more components your computer has the more electric imput demands too. Especially new fast graphic cards demand a lot of power (electric) input in Watts. P = U * I. Power output or input = voltage * current. Today´s computer power supplies have power output usually from 300W to 1000W. So, on one side is power output of power supply (W) that supply computer components that demand power (ilectric) input (W). And there must be valid that power output of power supply (W) > sum of power (electric) inputs (W) of all computer components. If it isn´t this way the computer start crash or work slowly because some components and usually the graphic cards which are the more sensitive about sufficient supply of energy are supplied by needed power (electric) input in this case little.
W > W1 + W2 + W3 ....Wxy Power output of power supply > sum od power inputs all computer components.
For that reason is better to have more powerful power supply in your computer than is needed in order to some power output was as a reserve for another new added components or exchange older components for new ones that are more energy demanding. the game is awsome, it has bugs but it is awsome. If you are looking for a game that is arcade then sid myers is the way to go but if you are looking for a much more realistic game, this is it.

Now they just need to fix it to where you can have dedicated servers online so all of us can play. I love the game, the ship combat is great. The aiming is frustrating at first but grows on you and now i like it.
 
Thanks for the lesson on power supply. Thought it might have been something inside the computer.

I have no idea how to figure out what my power supply is though. 110 vote outlet, I know that at least! LOL

Were the specs I listed, show my computer is fine and that the lag and crashing might just be the power supply then? And the patch might not help then?

My specs? This is from reading off the sticker on the computer, LOL.

Intel 4 Processor 540
Processor speed 3.2 GHz, 800 MHz, 1 MB L2 Cache
Intel Graphics Media Accelarator 900 (bit weak for game?)
1 GB DDR Dual Channel memory

That good, or I leave something out?

And to show my computer knowledge.. I have no idea what you mean by power supply. I just plug mine in? LOL

I guess the biggest problem is the Intel Graphics Media Accelarator 900. Its not for playing high end games since it lacks a real Graphic processor unit (GPU). The graphics are done by the main processor and they also share the memory (RAM). invest $80-120 in a decent videocard (Nvidia 6600GT or ATI X1600Pro) and you should be fine
 
That was my first guess. I think this computer is pretty fast, but doesn't have a card for gaming. Thanks. =)

If you do decide to upgrade your video card, you should check the rating of that power source, and be prepared to replace it if needed.

With a video card like Nvidia 6600GT, it is recommended that you have at least a 450 Watt Power source.

Even more power is recommended for the higher end video cards.

The sticker is most likely on the side of the power supply <b>inside</b> your computer case.
 
There wasn't a sticker, but I found my computer's specs at the gateway website. I only have a 300-Watt Power Supply.

Considering Rad's 350 wasn't enough.. no wonder I'm having problems, huh? LOL
 
Aye, I run a 6600GT an ye need te plug the card into yer power supply, 450 watt should do ye an lag should go away, yer have the same specs as me PC, Make sure to buy GT model if ye decide to go that route, Wurth the extra few bucks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
I would recommend even a more powerful power supply than 450W so as you could have it even for the future. If the power supply is good it endure for quite long time. I have GF 6600 GT but if you will decide to buy new vide card I would recommend something more powerful today for example GF 7900 GT or some Radeon 1900 XT. New games are very demanding. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
 
ive had this game since us release ive got an athlon amd processor 2.8 gig or something like that and a geforce 5200 vid card 128 mb an 512 ram i think its only crashed twice since ive had it an ive played it alot hehe the funny part is my wifes computer has the exact same set up an she cant even play the game for 2 min with out it crashing? confuses me hehe any ideas on what i could do for hers?
