Assembling Mod Team

    I think it is time we get everything for this game structured a little more efficiently.

    We need to assemble the official mod team for AOP. <b>If you are currently working on the game, that's great! Send me a PM and let me know what you are doing. </b>

    Also, we're going to split this section up into some sub-forums to help clean up this mess, so any input there is appreciated as well.

    We need all the help we can get. For those of you who own POTC and have seen the incredible work the Mod Team has done on that, than you know you have the ability to do a lot with AOP if we can get it aimed in the right direction with the right amount of control.

    And we appreciate that a lot! I had only played PotC out of the box, and shelved it long ago out of disgust. Just reinstalled it, and with build 13, and was amazed at the difference! PotC is way better now than AoP; it's AoP that has now gone on the shelf. If something like the build mod is done for AoP I'll one day take it up again...

    I'm interested in helping out. Specifically I'd like to model up some new ships. Sadly, I'm crap when it comes to skinning. **grins**

    I've got a fairly extensive listing of ships I'm looking at doing, but still need to find out the details of the model format, recommended modeling tools and export/import tools.

    As far as my ship list is concerned, we'll need to sit down, figure out sizes, classes, rigging and more as a team. Just so we can know what to expect, and plan for.

    I also need to know any specialized info needed for things like cannon locations, mast setups, etc. etc.

    Additionally, I'd like to see us try to get the ability for other ship 'upgrades' created. Maybe customer sail rigs and stuff like that, though that'll take sitting down and chatting about it with the folks that understand the code better than I currently do.

    I don't know if my skillset would be useful at all for anyone as I don't know how to model (yet!!!), or do anything beyond the most basic of basic high school Qbasic programming.

    However - if anyone needs anything Drawn, or painted - I'd be more than glad to be your man. I'm less proficient with paint than with well... a pencil, but I will skin, do concept art or whatever else I can do to aid the brilliant minds of the modding community. My services are at your disposal if anyone needs me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

    (right now I am not working on anything in particular - but soon I think that I am going to be making a female pirate... and if I could figure out how to model stuff, I would love to make a true Boucan!!! but one step at a time)

    You can probably go ahead and jot me down as an officially non-official non-catagorized member of the mod team.Basically i'm useless,but at the same time I accidentally end up being of some use.I can't quite explain it but i'm sure a few of can understand the rantings that are my posts.I'm one of those behind the scenes/lesser known guys mentioned in another post.

    In my case, as soon as i get my pc with the AoP files to my new appartment i'll be able to finish the flag updates and the VoC/WiC ship skins

    so, best way to see me is as an allround skin designer

    but like i posted in the flag thread, i need to get my appartment set up first

    Get PotC and install all the build mods. You'll be amazed at the difference! And give you your pirate fix until (and if) AoP is sorted out...

    Just so our side of things knows, I've actually placed an official request to the PotC build mod area about whether or not we might be able to use the PotC build mod as something of an example of what might be done. Like a basic framework for us to poke at and see what can be borrowed and used for AOP.

    But I did manage to change things so the officers dont quit...mehehehehehehee....


    We need a docking system like PotC ...as soon as possible .. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />


    and the system of using British ships vs spanish ships vs Pirate ships. etc...thats a must have...It adds a huge amount of fun to the game...maybe even import some ships..like the Xebecs and stuff....we NEED more SHIPS...

    I am willing to help with ship modelling but at the moment can't get the textures to work in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
    I'm not amazing at modelling but can do a few drafts and each time make a different but better/more accurate model - thats how I work - until I think its a decent model. I have a lot of stuff on at the moment so things I do may have to be worked around other stuff.

    If anyone can tell me how to stop TOOL from not reading the texture when you import VRML97 into it I would be greatful.

    There is 1 thing i do know about the tool, that it only works with, tga format. so the texture you made, must be in tga.

    The one problem i'm having is about exporting from max 7 - the plugin doesn't seem to work exactly as it does in max 8 which is why Kazeite can get it working and I can't (I think). The plugin doesn't seem to put the texture info into the file and when I hex edit it I do some major corruption of the file. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
