Bartolomeu quest

So I started a new game, and boarded a ship like you said, to see if I had a crew or not. The boarder model in the options was set on 'standard' so my crew was composed of (see previous post). So my crew WAS present when I started a new game. Only problem is, in the other game, where my guy is like lvl 25 or something, there isnt any of my crew at all when I board and dont quite want to start a new game because i'll loose my character...so if there is a fix without starting all over, i'm all ears <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
Sorry for beeing so confusing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Skeletons and women aren't standard, are they? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
I'm not quite sure why you suddenly have no boarding crew anymore. Yesterday I actually tried to get rid of the crew on your ordinary ship deck for Captain Maggee.
That I managed by setting <i>pchar.vcskip = true</i> . I'm wonder if Bartolomeu used that in his quest as well at some point, but I shouldn't think so... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I was going to chip in and say it sounds like the opposite to what I wanted <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
I would have been happy with what you had, but thanks to Pieter I do now have that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

In PROGRAM\console.c below the line <i>pchar = GetMainCharacter();</i> add a line <i>DeleteAttribute(pchar,"vcskip");</i> .
Load your savegame, press F12 and if that was indeed the problem, it should be solved. However, I can't promise anything, since I don't know if that IS the problem.
BTW: The above is written from memory, since I don't have access to my game right now. It looks correct, but I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps Captain Maggee can confirm.

Checking code....................

DeleteAttribute(pchar,"vcskip");

Yep that is right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

So, I'm new here and I've been playing through this storyline for a while now. I'm having a lot of fun, it's an amazing makeover! Seems that Bethesda games are just made to be modded. They can only truly reach their full potential through a skilled modding crew, like you guys.

Storywise, I'm up to the point where I got the Santiago back...whoopee...
First I'll contribute some info, then I'll ask my question.

I haven't run into any game stopping bugs, which is a good thing.
I can't remember every problem I had, but most recently when I was supposed to enter Santo Domingo it was blocked...sort of. There was like a ghost town there - several buildings that I could pass through - but it took me a while to figure out they were just empty walls that could be crossed. The entrance to the city was hidden "inside" a church of sorts. I don't really know the purpose of this empty town, but "inside" a house there was a person who I talked to. He said something about farms and then a horde of black tribesmen attacked. The reason i said inside with these "" marks is that I just ran through the wall. There wasn't any open command at any door.

There were also random crashes at completely random moments in the game. For example when I tried to approach Cuba island from the world map the game just crashed.

Also there was a short interval where the game kept crashing when I boarded a ship and tried to raid the corpse of a dead opposing crew member. My game crashed a few times and then I just didn't raid any corpses during the next two boardings and things were back to normal. This was close to Hispaniola and after getting the Santiago back.

Of course the texts in the dialogue and quest book need a general make over. I understand you changed a few house locations and also sometimes there just isn't enough information for certain quests. For example when looking for Francios L'ollonais I got the impression that Bartolomeu knew him and as such I expected to know right away where to find him upon arriving at Tortuga. Of course I didn't and the tavern didn't prove useful(it ussually does so I checked there). Turns out, I had to "ask around the port" <- that's what should've been added to the quest book. Also with wounded brothel woman, the guy said she lives in the "storehouse". I kept checking the storehouse untill I got smart enough to look at the quest book and see that it said just "house", I found her shortly after.
Don't take my remarks on the texts too harshly, I meant no offence. It would be nice if you could find someone fluent in English to fix them up.

I hope this helped :)

Now, I told Roxanne that I'd like to delay our next expedition. I just wanted to get rid of the Santiago and get a better ship (seems strange that they praise it so much when it's really very pathetic) and now I can't find her anymore. I tried Porte o Pitre and shes not there. Did I miss a house? Is she even there? Should I just wait untill she contacts me?

When I released the main quest, it worked. Now, if new bugs happen, I have no idea about that. My goal was to release a main quest working and that's I did.

About my English, I try to do my best but when you only practice English for the Build Mod, don't expect anything of fluent
Indeed, English is only my third language after French and Portuguese. :shock

It truely is remarkable what some people can do when it comes to languages....

I'm English speaking and know a little French and Japanese. However by a little I mean a little xD:

Some people (like Bartolomeu) say they know a little English on the forum BUT can understand what we say and know enough that we can understand them (and like Bartolomeu said its his third language :shock)

So I think we should cut them some slack cause its truely remarkable to know all those languages :onya

The main bug that he mentions sounds like more BuildingSet; not quest-related.
Other than that, I agree that the dialogs and queststexts could do with being improved by a person
who is more fluent in English, but the fact that the quest works is much more important.
Anybody can rewrite the texts; but only a few people can actually make working quests.
And it does work. :yes

Sorry guys, I didn't mean any offense. That's why I gave them such praise at the start, because their work really is remarkable. I just though they could find someone for their team who could do a rewrite to make their work seem more professional, thats all. About the bugs, I said at the start that they aren't serious, just a few minor issues. Sorry if I offended you guys, I really didn't mean to.
P.S. English is my second language.

So....what do I do about the main quest? How do I continue after I tell Roxanne that I wan't to wait a few months?

Well like Pieter said changing the questbook and dialog text is really easy :D

We just need people to do it, at the moment it feels like a few people are doing everything (with Pieter doing the most).

We have 4 questwriters (with one of them only just starting) who are to busy writing the quests to fix up dialog and questbook to make it more "Professional".
- Short Jack Gold (Hornblower) (America)
- Bartolomeu o' Portugues (Bartolomeu/Assassin) (Portugal)
- Thomas the Terror (His own quest [learning]) (Netherlands)
- Me (Captain Jack Sparrow) (Australia)

So if you want to give it a go yourself look in RESOURCE/INI/TEXTS/ENGLISH/Storyline/Bartolomeu/Questbook/
and then just change the writing after the = on each line

and the dialog files PROGRAM/Storyline/Bartolomeu/Dialog/ENGLISH
Change the text in between the "" on each line

As for the quest from what I can gather looking at the code is you need to sail somewhere and this will allow you to meet a ship that allows you to continue your quest ;)
(The place is not that weird for Bartolomeu to go to ;))

After that you will be able to find Roxanne again :D
