Just curious and confused by the poll on the main page...

It actually says "have you signed up for the beta"... I have signed up for the newsletter, not the beta... The beta sign up form will be linked to from the newsletter... At least that's how I understood it :p - Please tell me if anyone has signed up for the beta already!
 
I believe the deal is that they will pick betatesters from those who have signed up for the newsletter, so essentially if you've signed up for the newsletter you have signed up for the betatest - your name goes in with all the others that they'll pick from when they have the betatest ready to go. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I have signed the newsletter. Can't wait for the first one.
Just one question. Have anyone received anything after he signed? A confirmation or something?
 
Nah, i got nothing from it that i can remember, anyone know when the first one is supposed to be released?

Next week? Sept 1? Both good guesses. We're aiming for somewhere between those two. Currently I'm waiting to get some unique screenshots that will be included in the email so that we can give Avast! subscribers something that no one else has just yet (besides the beta link), and we're getting the beta forums set up and ready to go. And we're finalizing the build and making arrangements to stuff CD's into envelopes. So hang on there folks, we're almost there.

There should be some more press coverage coming out of a PR event that was held this week. Look for that online next week. I'll be out of the office all next week, but I'll bop in when I return to give you an update.

How exactly is the beta testing going to work? I know you get chosen from the Avast! newsletter, but then what? is it done online?

Ya, I think the beta will be out next week. For one thing, I don't believe they would push out a beta without a rep around. Secound, it gives them more time to work out problem they have. Good with me. Tell me something. I am stuck in summer school for two more weeks (including finals).
