Black screen on startup

Hey all

I recently installed POTC and it just black screens whenever i start running.

It has the little loading globe at the bottom of the screen on a black background then it disappears then the game freezes on a black screen =(\

I've tried with a NOCD
without a NOCD
Vanilla install
with Build 13
without Build 13 but with the fixed files

and every time i get Black Screen

It's not fair!

I Run:

P4 3.2 GHZ
nVidia 9800 GX2 1GB
2GB DDR2 RAM
Soundblaster Live! Audigy 128 bit
250 GB HDD

it worked when I had my 8600GT graphics card, but that was about 6 months ago and I haven't played the game since then

Any help would be appreciated =)

Hi,

Have you installed Nero since ?....if you have that installed POTC won't run.

Nah I don't have nero installed, don't think I did when it ran before either.

Anyone know what kind of graphics card you need? cos mine isnt that old <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
its definately a lot newer than the game
 
Hello, I got a similar problem with my nvidia card (6150SE) for an another game (Médal of Honor add-ons) and found a solution in a topic: OpenGL was too newer. I downloaded nhancer and it's good. <a href="http://www.nhancer.com/?dat=downloads" target="_blank">http://www.nhancer.com/?dat=downloads</a>
I don't know if it's works for PotC...
 
If it's a hardware problem, there's not much that can be done.
Except perhaps try the latest updates for the drivers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
