Boxsize

I ran across a problem in PotC Build 14 today. The following error message appeared in my compile log.

<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->AICannon: CrCuracao5 with ship type Battleship3 has no boxsize!<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

AICannon uses boxsize to determine how high up to aim on a ship.

Exactly where does the boxsize information come from, and what does it take to change it?

There are a number of ships in the game with problematic boxsizes, which causes problems like collisions when you're not close to a ship and difficulties boarding. There seem to be a number of ships that have the vertical boxsize way too big.

And then there was the ship that registered impacts from balls about halfway between our two ships, which weren't that close. I've got a screenshot of that. I don't know if that was a boxsize problem.

Any help would be appreciated, especially if someone with the knowledge and tools could check and fix the problems.

Are these ships stock or recently modified/built. The bounding box is locked after connecting to the locators I think.

It's kind of hard to tell, since so many ships have been added that I have no idea what the stock game had any more.

The problem is worse on larger ships, like the fleuts and various battleships. Sometimes you can't get close enough to board, sailing perfectly side by side in position to exchange broadsides, because you collide instead. If you do get the boarding icon, it goes away quickly.

Some ships can only be boarded if you're ahead of them in the above case, or if you've approached from the front. If you don't have the boarding perks and have to approach from the rear, you have to sail *past* the broadside before you get the boarding icon.

Getting out of Redmond harbor can be tricky if there are large ships moored there. You try to sail past them, thinking you're giving them plenty of room, but you collide anyway. This has happened both when I've tried to sail behind the other ship and ahead of it.

I typically sails ships like schooner1 or corvette3. I have no idea what the other ships are other than the basic types mentioned in the second paragraph.
