Have an ale! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

Sorry you're having trouble with the installer. Do you have a Euro or a US/UK version of PotC?

Its a US version

I'm trying to download the full version instead though it will likely take me all night and install it over the other to see if that can solve it. Otherwise I dont have a clue I'm a real computer dummy so please bear with me.

Don't worry, we'll help you as much as we can. Good luck with the download - we'll be here... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Did PotC (stock) run for you, pre-build?

What kind of video card do you have? Maybe you need to get an updated driver, or perhaps the <a href="http://www.omegadrivers.net/" target="_blank">Omega drivers</a> could help. Some cards do not do well with the 3D environment.

Are you getting any error logs? Look in your PotC game directory for any documents with a ".log" file extension, and open it in a text editor, then post the results here.

Hope this helps! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well I have a GeForce FX 5200 Video card. It dosent seem to do as well as my old GeForce 4 Ti4200 even though it has twice the ram but I dont think thats likely the problem.
I have no idea where the error log files are like I said I'm a computer dummy lol

Your error log files are most likely in this path -

Go to <b>START</b> - Open <b>My Computer</b> - Click on the icon for your <b>C drive</b> - look for the folder <b>Program Files</b> - Open that and look for the file <b>Bethesda Softworks</b> - Open that and look for the file <b>Pirates Of The Caribbean</b> - open that, and you will be in the correct folder. There will be quite a few files listed, just find the one that says <b>ERROR</b> and click on it. If Windows asks you what to open the file with, just tell it a text reader like <b>Notepad</b> or <b>Wordpad. </b>

That should help.

Beyond that, you should really get the newest drivers and the Omega drivers for your card and follow this -

Install the newest GeForce FX drivers
Download the latest Omega Drivers. Install it following the instructions
Set Automatic setting for the VC

And that should do it for you! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I'm going to move this to Build Technical in case someone else is looking for this info. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
