[Build 13] - Crashing Upon New Game

LokiHavok

Pirate Lord
Hey guys,
I recently installed a fresh copy of PoTC
Then Build 13 Final over top that

And whenever I try to start a New Game, I make it to about the Character/Ship Selectrion screen,
then the splash screen, before I Crash-To-Desktop,
with a "ENGINE has stopped working..." dialog box.

I've tried Run as Administrator and Windows XP computability Mods, as it's an older game
On a side note, I can run AoP2:CoAS perfectly, with no tweaking.

System Logs:
compile.log
system.log
I couldn't locate the error.log refered to in other threads

System Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2
Sony VAIO Notebook
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3200
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
3GB of RAM
32-Bit Operating System

Hope that sufficient.
Keep up the good work fellas,
can't wait to get this up an running.
Thanks in Advance.

Does the original game work before installing Build 13?
What's your graphics card?

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Says teh Device Manager.

And no I haven't tried vanilla PotC.
Was a little to eager to get to the good stuff.
Will have to reinstall, I suppose.
Going to get on top of that.

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family? That doesn't sound good.
I definitly recommend you try the original game first and see what happens.

Here's some reasons we've found for the game not working in the past:
The game tends not to work if:
- You have an Intel Onboard Graphics Card [workaround with Swiftshader Software Rendering - more info]
- You use ffdshow and don't have the game added to your "exception list"

Yep turns out the game won't run in vanilla either.
CTDs as soon as I try to start a New Game

EDIT: I got the regular game working after installing SwiftShader. Right on.

Thanks for tips man.
'Preciate it.

Also because you use Vista install the game somewhere NOT PROGRAM FILEs ;)

eg. C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean
This will allow the mods to install propally

That definitly can't hurt, but if the original game doesn't work either, just doing that won't solve it... :?

Swiftshader did solve his vanilla problem... So I was informing him of having to put it somewhere else for the mods to work (cause ViSTA is stupid with all of its protection)
