Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3.4 Release

Fixes for the perks are in the appropriate topic now. I might fix some more tonight and then I will make sure a zip is attached to the first post with everything in it if pieter doesn't beat me to it.
You dont need a new game for those fixes to work.

I now have Bartolomeu's quest update, but with that included, it is too large for a ZIP file.
Unless I am mistaken, no new game should be required for any of the changes made. So I'll try to replace the EXE later on.

If you give me another hour or so I can have a few more things fixed and those can be included also.
What would be the deadline?

Only thing I have noticed is two the officers you start with in Brave Black Flag do not have faces when you talk to them Kildare and O'Hara. Also I don't think I understand smuggling.
You can still do it exactly the same as you did before with 1 exception. After you talked to the smuggler in the tavern you have to talk to him again to say you are ready to meet.
All other things are optional to do.
If you want more info search for the book "Smugglers' Handbook". It will give you some more information. It should be fairly common in shops.

Thanks Levis,

This is great work.
For the next update (which will be here in a hour or so probably) I lowered the avaiblitiy of this book. But the first time you go smuggling you will get the book from the smugglers. This book is also a pre work for a later quest which will revolve round smuggling.
The last line of the book might give you a hint already ;).

Opening post updated, installer EXE replaced

If you had yesterday's release, you do NOT need to start a new game.

New stuff:

- Cartagena Quest by @Bartolomeu o Portugues FINISHED! Would be good to have this tested before the public release. :woot
- All @Levis' latest fixes. Perk Unlocking is sorted out, Fetch Quests further balanced, working for the governor improves reputation
- Sailor crews on boardings restored for player and corrected for Forts/Towns (to be checked!)
- CRC check included in installer to ensure you MUST have the complete and uncorrupted Main Archive File to be able to install

My bad about the CMV. I have been playing both games on and off again with mods from this site. Which is why I am most excited about the Hearts of Oak project. I have immense faith in this community's ability to create excellent game material in even an outdated game engine, let alone with a newer game engine from the ground up. Wish I could do more than test, but I have no experience coding or modeling...

Cleaned up this topic a bit. Most of the complains moved to the bug tracker. please submit problems there so we can keep track of them easily

ZIP file added to the opening post.

Included are:
- Some dialogs improved further by @Pillat and @Grey Roger
- Missing citizens restored to Havana and Santo Domingo by @Pillat (new game required if you want this change to take effect)
- Missing textures added for mules

So now the main things I would really like to know are these:

What reasons are there still left why the current Beta 3.4 RC requires further work and cannot be posted to the ModDB yet?
Which rough edges do we still have that need to be addressed on short term?
What do you not like about the most recently added features and that we should still work on improving?
And what reasons might there be for Beta 3.4 being considered worse than Beta 3.2 or even Beta 3.1?

And my updated dialogs for the Oranjestad, Havana and Santo Domingo citizens appear to be in there as well. Thanks!

INDEED! I updated my previous post now to include you as well. Fair is fair!

I'd say there is one thing that must be there before releasing, and a couple of things I wished they were there, if it can be finished in time:

- The select starting year option is definitly a must.

- Levis' Economy and Worldmap-Encounter mods would be very very nice, but is not that important for Beta 3.4 (would still be very very cool though!)

- Those pirate rivals and Town under attack requests also sound exciting, but I doubt that this is managable in time. So -> Beta 3.5

- I would like to wait for Levis' new perk ideas (cook e.g.).. they sound interesting and very useful, so if he can manage it in time, a few more days waiting for that wouldn't hurt ;)

And now what can wait for several releases, but I wished it was playable already ( :D )

- Would love to see the europe locations work and all the potential there :ship

- The FcoHS has also lot of potential, but isn't thaat important, so we should more or less skip it until the list above is solved ;)

Since we intend to make the Beta 3.4 literally as soon as humanly possible, anything that is a "new feature" has to wait until after its release.
We have technically already held off on releasing it longer than I would have wished, though so far that has indeed been necessary.

But I don't think any of your wishes will make it in there. Some may even have to wait until Build 15.
Hopefully we can accomplish the easier ones relatively shortly after releasing Beta 3.4 though. :yes

Still todo from my part:
- Check the shipyard fetchquest cause someone reports problems
- Make sure the shop wont sell the fetchquest stuff (minor bug)
- Check the perk interface so the filter shows all chosen skills when clicked (especially usefull when checking out officers).
- Only refresh perks interface when filter is active
- Tweak escort parameters a bit more
- Disable saving on deck

- See if I can add fantoms to save data and else disable saving in cartenga fort
- Add some more hints about the long rifle and telescope
- Look into officers contributing perks
