I have a request! If it'll work. -coughs- Can you take all the features of Build 14, and remove the storylines and just keep the original one of Build 13 and keep the player select screen? I love Build 13, and I'd like to play the original storyline with the new features. :3

And on another note. Why does the map look so... crappy?

<a href="http://i44.tinypic.com/24656ra.jpg" target="_blank">http://i44.tinypic.com/24656ra.jpg</a>

Looks like you didn't install correctly. Are you sure you followed the <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=12809&view=findpost&p=307383" target="_blank">instructions</a>?
I'm thinking you might've forgotten to install Build 14 Alpha 9 itself; the correct map file is in there.
Also I see you're using the brown interface. It is recommended you use the blue one instead;
the brown one isn't entirely updated for all the Build 14 Alpha new content.

As for your request, I'm not quite sure what you mean. The original storyline is still there in Build 14 Alpha 9. It's even the default.
It's true that the player select screen is temporarily gone, but we'll restore a similar functionality for the final Build 14.
In the meantime, if you really don't want to use the standard character in the standard storyline,
you can open PROGRAM\Storyline\standard.c and change the character model there.

In that case you might have to set the texture quality higher with the Config program.

I did it's set on high. ._.

see? <a href="http://i40.tinypic.com/213435s.jpg" target="_blank">http://i40.tinypic.com/213435s.jpg</a>

Are any other textures looking bad? I'm pretty sure the map was looking quite normal in Build 13, last time I checked! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Yeah There's quite a few bad looking textures. Hold on I'll show you.

EDIT: Here:

<a href="http://i42.tinypic.com/2yzkegm.jpg" target="_blank">http://i42.tinypic.com/2yzkegm.jpg</a>

I double checked to make sure my graphics are on high and yeah they are. =\

OH and the loading screen when i load a game looks excellent so do the models textures in game!

Apparently your game is USING the low texture quality mode. That's the only possible explanation.
Can you post the contents of your engine.ini file?

of course!

Still looks the same. =\

Oh and by the way, I can only use widescreen resolutions, such as, 1024x640, 1280x800, etc. My monitor is wide screen so regular resolutions get stretched and looks like crap, just FYI.

Then what the *** is going on? I use a widescreen on my computer too and the textures look perfectly fine.
It DID look right at some point in the past, didn't it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Yeah in the default PotC game, not in the Build. I installed build 14 alpha and they look crappy in the alpha too. =\

But the Build installer doesn't do ANYTHING with the texture quality.
That's set in engine.ini and that file is left alone by all installers!

I tried using 1280x720 once and the game apparently switched to another, low quality setting on its own. Only switching it back to a definitely supported resolution gave me normal looking textures back. Maybe try starting in 800x600 once, preferably via the Config.exe's "Save and Start" function.

When I get back home, I'll post the content of <i>my</i> engine.ini file; that one is widescreen and works fine for me.
The interfaces and loading screens do get streched, but there's no way to prevent that. 3D world looks good.

And you're absolutely sure that in the stock game it does look right? As per my previous post, that just make sense <i>AT ALL!</i>
