What kind of CPU do you have? Since this is software rendering it is very inefficient and will depend on your CPU power RAM memory speed and such.

Heavy rains and storms can lower FPS significantly. I played with a few of the parameters which helped a bit. Try different resolutions and to play the game in window instead of full screen.

Super easy - just throw two .dll files (and an .ini file if you want to change defaults) into the game directory.

It still has some quirks: I initially got it to run on 1024x768x16 resolution, low textures. Then if you try to change to 32 bit color or different resolution or high textures it may crush. Then go back to the original setting and it still crash - always at the same point, giving a message about cannot reading some memory address. Fiddle with it a bit and return TO THE EXACT SAME SETTING and it works fine again. Go figure.

Figuring this has something to do with memory handeling, in the swiftshader ini file I lowered the vid memory to 256 MB and now I play on 1024x768x32 with high textures. Only tried the stock game and build 13 so far and had no more crashes (about 30 minutes playtime). I only feel a slowdown when lots of lightnings are flashing, but the frame rate is still good enough to play (duo core2 2.0 GHz laptop). The only nuisance is the swiftshader logo that is stuck in the lower left of the screen where the action menu is... it is half transparent, so it is tolerable.

On to installing build 14.9...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Please don't keep posting the same questions OVER and OVER...

We will have a look at it when we are online, we do have real lives as well as modding ;)

I understand why you asked twice (wrong forum first time) but the third time you didn't have to as we were trying to help you on the other thread...

I have posted on that thread a suggestion of maybe how to get it to work. Oh and BTW the Build Mod is certainly worth the download as it adds so much cool features AND it has made the game worthy of the name Pirates of the Caribbean (as well as other names xD:)

Hello.

I TRULY hope you can help me...

I 2 have the "choose new game at PotC then the .exe (being with And without the mod) crashes every time again problem on windows 7.

I had PotC installed, but in C/Games instead of program files.

I also downloaded swiftshader. Link: http://www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons/downloads/swiftshader-v20-demo and found 2 .dll files: d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll

I however wasn't sure what folder you meant when refurring to the game directory...

So I placed the 2 .dll's in C/Games/MODULES, where I found many .dll's ..... was this right?

Where do I put the .ini? in the same folder?

I then set the Config on 1024x768x16 and left the texture quality at the lowest setting (all the way to the left) as you mentioned..... no effect...

I've tried everything!!!!! for 9,5 hours now! including setting the compatibility mode to run the ENGINE.exe in compatibility mode for windows 95 and ones with windows 98/windows Me.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

It worked FINE on my previous leptop, having Windows XP

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Yours Plundering,

Goldwolf

It looks like you put Swiftshader in the wrong place. You drop all of the files into your PotC folder. Do not put them into any sub folders. Try that and let us know how you are doing. :)

I
The files should be in the same directory as the executable that use them (the exe file). I never used windows 7 or vista, so I cannot tell if it works for these system (Linux for everything except some games on XP).

Hello ones more.

Thank you ALL for your replies!!!!!

I GOT IT TO WORK..... or at least partly...

You see, this time I am able to start a new game... the music has some bugs, and the game seems somewhat... SLOW... But it works. Also after I installed the Patch...

Was it correct to extract the patch to the game folder (in my case C/Games) and have several folders replaced by the folders in the extraction?

However after I choose to travel to my ship..... the game Crashes AGAIN, just like before.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Yours Robbery,

Goldwolf

You indeed are supposed to install ALL files to your main game folder, eg. C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean, overwriting what is there.
SwiftShader does allow the game to run on Intel GFX card systems, but generally not smoothly.
There's nothing much to be done about that other than getting another graphics card though. :facepalm

Reply Asap please !

My game crashes after I install the Build 14 full version...
At the intro, It works fine.

As I start a new game.
All my character i have tried...
Just right after the loading screen...
I hear a '' Ting '' Sound like a logbook update.

Then it crashed.

Help !!

Owhhh... I got a question.

If I download the full version of build14.
I have to download Patch 5 toooo ???

Mahn... that's quite confusing... I'm downloading patch5 right now.

-Finger Cross-

Without the patch 5, I moved the d3dx9 dll's to the modules file.
The game work fine, No problems.

But the game crashed at random though.
Even though the Engine said

Module '' d3dx9.dll '' skipped.
and the rest.

The game start normally and the start a new game with no problems.

It's quite abit confusing though.

Can you guys somehow, Change it abit.
Like a new version of the game than keeping everything the same.

F2 have alot of options.

( Ship > Crew > Cargo )
It's hard to get used to it all for now.

I'm not good at changing files or making any of myself.

If i did. I'd make my own game already...
If I can, I'll show you guys my point of view when you press F2.

I have to draw than make cause i'm not a computer genius =/

Recommended to install B14 Beta 1 without any of the options (ENB/SwiftShader) selected.
Then install Patch 5 and get ENB from the ModDB seperately if you think your computer can handle it.
