It took me a long time to notice this as for a long time my ships had no chasers and I never fired the cannons anyway, but.

When I fire chasers one does not fire. I first noticed this on the NL_Pinnace. I searched and searched and could not find anything wrong anywhere. Locator _26 does not fire.

Now I am using a Heavy East Indiaman which has 4 chasers and it only fires 3 both front and rear. I guess all the side cannons fire. It's kinda hard to tell.

I can't find anything wrong with the ship models or ships.init.c.

Do you have a full crew? And enough ammunition? No broken cannons?

Do you have that problem with all ships?

If I recall, there is a minimum crew enforced. And if there aren't enough left, then you could have trouble convincing your cannons to fire.
So it could be that specific ships just don't have enough Max Crew defined. But if that is indeed the case, at the very least it shouldn't be all ships.

I was unable to confirm this. Playing through "Ardent" to check that it still works with the current installer, I'll soon be getting a Heavy East Indiaman as part of the story. But as luck would have it, I ran into a French patrol containing, among other things, a Heavy East Indiaman. After persuading its captain that I needed the ship more than he did, I took it to port, brought the crew up to full strength, then put to sea for some gunnery trials. After aiming at nothing in particular and firing manually, I was quick enough switching to external view to observe all four stern guns firing. All four bow guns also fired.

The ship sometimes fired two cannons together. If you're not in external view and are just listening for cannon blasts, that can sound like one shot, so you'll only hear three blasts.

I have only had 2 ships with chasers, the NL_Pinnace and the H E Indiaman. The pinnace was berthed when I acquired the formerly British HEI. They both were always fully crewed and have never suffered serious casualties. I have never sailed the 2 Fragata Latina escort ships and they have suffered serious casualties but kept firing.

It is easy to see which chaser is firing on the pinnace by not going to battle sails as only one side of the chin sail gets holed. Since I fire 24 lb bombs from the HEI it is easy to see them flying through the air. All 3 of them.

Since it is confirmed that this is a personal problem I have already DLed, once again, the installers and will build up a new install. This one has devolved into a hunt for 3 elusive ships. The French grand Schooner, the English Light Fluyt of War, and the Dutch FWzP. I already have the Spanish Treasure Galleon and the Portagee Fragata Latina.
