So this Starforce is acutally a Rigenslaveforce because it forces your computer to go hell and run slow? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I can't say... The game uses StarForce FrontLine 5.0 and I think you are right -> my PC performance is lower than before...

Guys who have talked about idiocy of the Starforce here ARE right. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

@freaker: Do your CD/DVD drives still work after you've installed the game? When I installed Enigma: Rising Tide a year ago, my DVD drive lost the ability to burn discs.

I signed up on the StarForce forums and asked for help - with the official response being that I was a software pirate! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> That's all they seem to tell everyone over there who has problems. Well, that or a Windows Update cooked it - riiiight <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I suggest to uninstall this starforce before anything bad happens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

If I uninstall the SF drivers I won't be able to play Corsairs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

for as far as i've heard noone has had problems with removing starforce. only positive effects.

I think he means he won't be able to play the game after he uninstalls SF, which would be correct. This would explain why I've got two boxes full of pc games I haven't played in ages.

Here's how:
<a href="http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php" target="_blank">http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php</a>

The official Starforce removal tool is here:

Mind you, bearing in mind that this was written by the same people as the malware itself, I wouldn't recommend trusting it. Besides, that page says:<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->It is obvious that all the rumors around StarForce hazards are spread by international piracy groups. Our recent contest has just proven that StarForce does not damage optical drives.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Well, I suppose we are an international piracy group, although not in the way they probably mean. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> (As I recall, their supposed "contest" involved you taking your PC to their lair in Russia, at your own expense, so that you could prove to them that it was Starforce that had messed up your PC. Not surprisingly, nobody bothered.)

Well, I can understand why Akella uses StarForce as copyprotection (supporting a national product), but they apparently haven't noticed that almost everywhere in the world StarForce has a bad reputation (and not only their copyprotection, but the company too).
It actually leads to less copies being sold.

Well, since "Age of Pirates: Captain Blood" will be released on XBox 360 (yay, no SF there) I'll be keeping an eye on that one and skip "City of Abandoned Ships" or whatever it will be called (I will never ever buy a game with SF, simple fact!).

COAS(the russian version) DO have star force. And all Corsairs games including Return of the Legend and Dead Man's Chest, which are released only in russian(I have them). Now I'm trying to play Return of the Legend....
