Crashing, dissapearing: guide me through please

I went into that init_pc.c file (after installing 12.1) to discover that it said 'false' after the F1 and F2 keys. I changed them to 'true' and now it works!


..oh. No, wait, it doesn't. They're now accessible. I'll have a go at changing them.


Gah. The game's crashed and I can't get back to desktop. Will have to restart. brb.

Right. Now I've changed them for 1 and 2 (I hope they weren't being used) and now it works!

I'm afraid 1 and 2 ARE already used: for reloading your cannons. 1 is for balls, 2 is for grapeshot. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Not to worry because PeterWillemoes' Omega drivers have got the game working on the laptop (Thank you!!).


I've had it on for hours and everything's working almost perfectly.


A few questions:

How do I get food and rum to the crew?

How do I not get sunk near the beginning of the game?

How do I raise moral?


..that's all I can think of right now but I'm sure there'll be more.

1: buy it in the stores.

2: hoist the portugese flag or your personal flag. it should keep you out of trouble.

3: go to the crew interface, or make sure you have enough rum on board.

I've seen ale and fruit. I assumed that was just for trading.

I boarded a pirate ship; killed everyone, but couldn't take the ship. I also I kept hearing distant gunshots and on going back to 'sea', miraculously, the pirate ship was crewed again.

How does this work? Can't I commandeer ships? (right word?)

Is there a place on piratesahoy that has simple tips like holding down control whilst sword fighting?

I went to the loan shark and borrowed 4500 but the character screen said I only had 500 gold. It never seems to change....??

not YET. but i was planning on typing something ike that in a topic that has dissapeared into the murk.

it was added to your crew money. you're looking at your personal wealth. try getting yourself a letter of marque at a governor, sink some enemies of his, andf go back for promotion. your money will increase from the money coming from the land you where awarded. on a sidenote, you should never ask a loan. it gives more trouble than it's worth. you'd better give back the money in time or you're in some real trouble.

Food for the crew is wheat. That's what you need. If you press the <i>Auto Buy/Auto Trade</i> button, your ship is automatically supplied with ammunition, food and rum.

Do you use Build 13 now? In Build 12.1 there should never be any problem with being sunk at the beginning of the game. In Build 13 sometimes there is, mostly if you select an English flag in the Choose Character interface prior to starting the game.

If you board a pirate ship, you should get an interface screen where you can take their cargo and crew and swap ships.
